No lies. An absolute hero of Indiana hoops. Thanks for all he's done for the Hoosiers and the Pacers.

That is so sad to read. Had to happen sometime, just like with all of us. The guy was an absolute gold mine of basketball knowledge, history and endless stories. I only met him once, but it was fun.

His impact on Indiana basketball, at every level, cannot be overstated. If there is an Indiana sports Mount Rushmore, Slick is on it, for sure. From playing, to coaching, to announcing, he's simply been the best at anything he's done, and contributed to making Indiana a better place.

And we absolutely cannot ignore the impact his wife, Nancy, has had along the way, too. Absolute powerhouse couple. Indiana is a better place for his existence.

One of my favorite things he did as an announcer was when he yelled at ref Tony Brothers: Tony, pack your bag and get out of here!

He wasn't one to hold back.

Much respect for a proper Pacer man, but I'm a statues for nobody and flowers for all beings man :).

For every Slick Leonard yelling boom baby as main contribution, there is a more capable person missing opportunities.

Even if I had witnessed his shining period, I still know respect has to be divided over all, not centrated on the shiny people.

WFYI had a nice special biography of him a few years ago. They could replay it, but maybe it's available somewhere.

Went to many games in the ABA when Slick was coaching and listened to so many Slick broadcasts on the radio. He was respected for his playing, coaching, and announcing ! I can attest that he was an awesome human being to me spending some time with me once at the business I managed. Such a good natured, positive, and funny individual who was so easy to talk to. He's one of those people in life you meet that you'll never forget and he makes you feel like a friend even though you were just an acquaintance. He's truly an Indiana legend if there ever was one.

On a side note I met Larry Brown after a Pacer game and he was very talkative and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised. Met a few players in my life and the only one that stands out as friendly is Darnell Hillman signing autographs after a game at the fairgrounds coliseum when they played there.

I am not old enough to remember the ABA days.

I understand what a figure he is to the Pacers, and I will miss him on Pacers radio. It is admirable how involved he still was even in the last few years.
