They will likely add Austin Rivers. Better than sitting on their hands. That FO is tha sht. GM of the year in my book, sorry JJ.

Do you think that signing Austin Rivers is a good move?

He is close to be out of the league, I did not even know that he was on the Knicks at the start of the season. Then they traded him for basically nothing and he was waived by the Thunder.

The Nuggets GM did really bad moves last off-season. Jerami Grant is no longer with the team and he was entering his prime, he is killing it for the Pistons.

Miles Plumlee is a better backup C than any of JaMychal Green or McGee and the money spent is about the same.

Millsap was retained for $10M when he probably only deserves a minimun contract at this point of his career. That money could have gone to Grant.

Craig for the minimun is great and they did not want him back. That is another mistake IMO.

Grant and Plumlee wanted bigger roles, they couldn't get it on the team. He came back nicely from those setbacks, which can happen with anybody (Grant went to the Pistons to the place of Wood, who did not want to play there, but could be just as good there for example). But getting adequate, or even better fitting players at the deadline to make up for the departed is huge. Especially the price he did it at,he basically paid 0. And again, he didn't really have controll of the players who choosed not to stay there (kinda like us with Joe Johnson, or McDyess back in the day).
And while Rivers is not great, he is their version of what we should have had or tried with McGee. See the weakness and the problem, (try to) get it fixed/covered to the best of your abilities. Rivers is not a good move as a player. But Rivers is their best move in this situation IMHO. That is why I said what I said, you know what I mean?
Also, I wasn't saying he is Auerbach - just that I think he is doing a very good job. Pressing the issues, and coming up with solutions to make his team better. (And I didn't even include their draft success in the last 10 years or so).

I disagree.

Yeah, I thought that he was doing a very a good job UNTIL this last off-season.

They could have promised to Grant a bigger role or pay him more money than the Pistons. His contract is an steal now. It was a mistake...period, like it was a mistake what we did with Joe Johnson on his day.

Mason Plumlee did not want a bigger role, he just went for the best contract and Conelly thought that it was too much money for a backup C ($8.3M per year). Another mistake, because Plumlee is super valuable as a distributor and finisher and can play starting minutes if needed.

And what about Craig? It was ridiculous to lose a guy like him when he was available for a minimun contract and they paid $10M to Millsap.

Adding Campazzo was a solid move through.

Overall I think that they could have been true contenders with those three players on their roster. Now I think they are just pretenders (with or without Jamal Murray).

Lets just agree to disagree then. I think with Murray they are a real contender. And I like their team/role players better this year than last.

Just saw this. I was hoping we could pick him up, but glad we didn't use a roster spot after seeing this. I hope the best for him.

I thought he was done-done, unlike Blake who was dogging it. I guess I was right.
I might have not minden picking him up, but wasn't enthused about it as I remember. I would have liked McGee better than LMA.

*edit: I did not realize the irregular hearbeat stuff - that sucks, hope he doesn't have any major issues with it. So I thought he was done-done athletically, not like this. :(

I only liked LMA on the Suns, because of offense, and thought he would give us another scoring big that would open the floor for other players. Defensively, I would have rather had another big, or maybe LMA and a defensive big as well, maybe on a two way contract.

Only a few games separate the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns and LA Clippers atop the West standings, but our panel is trusting Utah to hold on to this one.

Home-court advantage certainly matters to some degree in the postseason, but the No. 1 seed could also be stuck facing the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the second round. Ending up as No. 2 or No. 3 might not be the worst thing.

Utah Jazz: 75.0%

Phoenix Suns: 18.7%

LA Clippers: 6.3%

We may be tied with Jazz in the loss column and within half a game three hours from now. Early game for Utah against Pacers starting at noon.

Lakers next 4 games are 2 against Utah and 2 at Dallas. I think one of Portland or Dallas has a good chance of catching them, which would be best case if we can get 1 seed (or even drop to 4). I doubt the Lakers can win more than 1 of those.

Big fight for that last play in spot in the east. Bulls, Raptors and Wizards all within a half game of each other. They are all way behind Indiana and Charlotte. Charlotte playing poorly...if they were not so far ahead, they would maybe fall out.

Interesting reading what he said about Bam...many here (including myself first and foremost) had this same complaint about Ayton of course.

Even with Conley, Gobert, Mitchell and Favors out, I think the Jazz still have the slightly better lineup.

Clarkson > Schroder
Ingles > Caldwell Pope
Bojan > Kuzma
Royce > Markieff
Ilyasova < Drummond

But if Ersan pulls Drummond away from the basket, it negates his rebounding a lot.

Of course the Lakers have the better bench now with Harrell, Caruso, Horton-Tucker and Gasol.

Jazz just have Niang.

Lakers are about to possibly blow it to the Jazz without their 3 all stars. They had a 13 pt lead in the 4th.

I need to keep my mouth shut sometimes. This Utah team shows resilience just wont go away. At least Lakers forced OT. By the way it feels weird rooting for the Lakers normally I root against them.
