Re: YUTA. Contract converted.
It's been a rough season but finding guys like Yuta who can be a legitimate rotation piece moving forward is a nice achievement. He seems to be the kind of player that can be an effective contributor wherever you plug him in - more so than Watson, as much as I love his potential given his size and skills.

I wonder how long the contact is.
If it is 3 seasons (including this year), I assume next year and the year after are ungauranteed for us to be cap flexible. Maybe we are using the remaining MLE of this year to sign him? Better than using next year though.

Not able to give him 3 years because we don't have MLE(used it on Baynes and Len. lol). Two years max right now including this year. This is why making Gillespie a 2 year two way now and converting him to a 3 year deal next offseason with the MLE (if he makes the team) makes more sense than giving him a full contract now.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Awesome to hear. Can't complain considering it's for minimum. I wish everyone played as hard as him.

The amount Ron Baynes is making alone, could literally overhaul the Raps entire bench

It will all be worth it when his salary next year is thrown into a trade with Boucher, Hood plus our pick(and several future picks) for Beal or someone else. Of course this means Baynes gets another year in the league at 7 million plus. He is living right.

We got our guy!! Giannis cap space used perfectly lol.
Seriously though, he has shown nice improvements over the past bit. Him being aggressive offensively has changed how he looks out there. I just hope he can do the same when we play winning basketball rather than whatever the hell we're doing out there now.

If he's signed to a minimum contract, it shouldn't affect cap flexibility anyhow, since an empty roster space has a minimum salary cap hold on it regardless, AFAIK.

Well earned, he deserves it, playing great lately. Near unanimous agreement on these points so I wonder how long this thread can go.
I loved how he joked after the Magic game, he was mad at Watson for stealing the limelight on Yuta's big night. He is so likeable.

It has slight impact because he's on a 2nd year minimum and the empty roster spot charge is I think equal to a rookie minimum for 2nd round picks. So I think it might be a little over .7 million in space lost if we keep him and want to be a cap team.

Know nothing of guns but apparently the poor man's AK47 is the SKS rifle. Not suggesting this as a nickname because his name is Yuta and gun related nicknames are frowned upon...

Blake has said this makes Yuta a UFA in 2022. I wish we could nail him down for longer, but understand that it would interfere with cap flexibility. Can we extend him at any point next season?

Give the minutes to the hungry players.
As I understand it, he could walk in a year. The league and player's union offer little incentive for a team to work with and develop a player ages 23-26. You could establish a player taking all the effort and time but another team could reap all the rewards.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Re: YUTA. Contract converted.
Sure hope they keep him next season (I'm sure they will as there's really no cost in guaranteeing it) so that he gets to live in Toronto and we get to see him live.
All these likable players that Toronto has acquired for both NBA and baseball haven't even had a chance to play in Toronto yet and it sucks for both sides.
