They see us in their rear-view mirror with OKC looming in the distance as well. They are locking in.

You’re at a fun stage...no expectations, you win when you lose, get to revel in schadenfraude with our (Bulls) pick. Pick tracking threads sure are fun. I remember back in the day when the Knicks gave us #2 overall...that sure was a fun track. Alas...we blew the pick. Enjoy Magic fans!

Man, I liked Bey.. nobody else here was trying to hear that name though when I brought him up
.
Also been in a fantasy Build-a-Franchise league the past few years on the Knicks board with everybody keeping the same team year by year and it incorporates free agency/draft stuff. I think most of my picks were late first rounders (27-30) or late seconds (like 55-60) and I had drafted Dort, Chuma and Pritchard before the actual drafts took place in the last few years. Gonna go join the Magic scout team brb.

He's in Detroit. He can shoot. He knows how defense works.
Anyone that you throw out there and give significant minutes to is going to put up some numbers and Bey is in a situation where minutes are basically guaranteed. He still has a low ceiling. If we had drafted him, he wouldn't have received the same opportunities, he would've posted pedestrian per game averages, and he would've been lumped in among the rabble that we blame for our failures. After we dumped our core, he would've magically improved and his per game numbers would've trended upwards.
His on/off stuff isn't good, but he is a rookie and that's not enough to condemn him. They are playing him now and they will be able to see whether or not he improves. Detroit will have a good idea of what his value is before they have to negotiate that second contract. Credit to them for not giving those minutes to some veteran that the coach prefers but that doesn't really help them win games.
We've seen time and again that there is a market to be exploited by acquiring youngsters that never get off the bench for other teams, but you can't really afford to take advantage of that market if you are trying to win games. If you are going to suck regardless, then what is the downside?

Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
Pistons might pull this one out....could this be another tank backfire after resting so many key players?

Re: Race for Ping Pong Balls
Vuc has killed the celtics. I'm not sure what the celtics were thinking when they gave away Theis. They have very little paint defense.

They couldn't dump him because he has another year and they would've needed to attach value which apparently they didn't want to. I believe Theis was just dumped to stay under the luxury tax. It's an odd sequence of events for a team that has postseason aspirations.
