This lineup for the rest of the season could get us to 13th.Scoot McGroot wrote:Wizop wrote:Sumner, Goga, and Brissett starting.

With Jakarr getting ejected in the 4th, we’re currently playing a lineup with...Brogdon at center?
Goga battling injuries too. McDermott struggling with injuries. Rough, rough night.

Let's face it the Spurs(now 28-28) play tough defense and aren't terrible. The Pacer's(26-31) injuries are making it very tough to compete for the win let alone field a starting unit that can play great together. On the positive I like Brissett as a bench player for next year along with Stanley moving up. Maybe Martin not so much Bowen. Regardless changes have to come Mr. Pritchard !

To finish the season it appears due to mounting injuries the only games Pacers will win are against horrible teams or tanking teams. I see the finishing stretch record at 7-8.
So in order to fall any lower in the East another team has to get hot. The only teams in that category are Washington, Bulls, or Raptors. Any of these teams could decide to go for the playoffs or tank as they're on the borderline.
All 3 of these teams have as good as or better records in last ten games as the Pacers do. Pelicans are the only western team that could finish better than the Pacers record.
The best draft position obtainable is going to be #10 for the Pacers I believe. Worst will be #12-13. Charlotte is in a slide and looks to go 7-9 at best with their remaining schedule probably keeping them above the Pacers. It's all speculation at this point.

Yes, but I find it easier to see us falling than rising.

We’ve also got 3 teams 2.5 games below us or less, too. Chicago and Washington are tied for 10th, and only 2 games behind us. Toronto is only another half game behind them. From the West, we’re only 1 game ahead of the Pelicans, and 3 games ahead of the Kings. That’s about the absolute furthest down the lottery ladder I could see us falling, which would put us at 7th in the lotto. The remaining 6 teams are at least 6 games worse than us in the standings, which would be a lot with only 16 left to play for us.
But, we could also go on a weird winning run and end up in 7th or 8th, too. Who the heck knows with this roster.

When I looked at the standings last night, I also saw the path to 7th in the lotto. If we don't get healthier . . .
There are teams who'd claim injuries in our position to assure a slide. I don't see us faking, but suddenly we look terrible. in any other years the run of home games coming up would let us take a run at 4th. not this year.

Agreed. I could see us really trying our best and still ending up 6-10 or 4-12 on this closing run. If Goga’s ankle is bad, and Jakarr’s back isn’t ok, we could also be starting Brissett at the 5, with no other 4’s.

7th in the lottery has a 31.9% chance of getting a top 4 pick
I would not mind that at all
And Pacers have been bad at home this season. Entirely possible that 7th in the lottery is in play

Somewhat possible, sure. It would require not only US playing terrible, but would also require all the teams below us to start playing pretty good basketball, too. That's a lot of factors.
