if thibs plans on 30 from Rose he should start so he doesn't have to play 15 straight minutes in both halfs.

7-8 mins...rest...7-8 mins halftime

7-8 mins...rest...7-8 mins game over

Looking forward to how they respond to the challenge.

it's attainable. but as far as Ws and Ls, we're beyond playing with house money. i've promised myself i'm not going to trip. who thought we'd get 30 wins for the whole season, let alone have the potential to be a 40-win team?

agreed but we are at that stage where we are a decent team. We have shattered the preseason prediction so I go into game expecting wins. Maybe that is unfair a bit because of where this team should be.

The only player I simply have no faith for is Payton other than that the rest of the team I think can hold there own with most teams around the league. They play well together as a team and these now are considered "winnable" games...crazy to think.

yeah, i want and expect the W too. the team believes it can beat anyone. i'm just saying i'm not going to be too disappointed with regression to the mean.

you're right that the team has established itself to the league in a sense. i draw the line at whether or not we compete at a level that's appropriate. i think the chips kind of fall where they may and we're uppppp.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

That’s an interesting point. As an old man who’s been active most of my life, I can tell you that it’s warming up again that’s more of an issue because you get stiff and out of rhythm sitting. But I suspect each player is different.

that is a true point...I hope rose isn't at that point where his muscles are tightening up

I think Thibs take it game by game based on (1) how well Payton is playing that day; and (2) the score.

I'd like to see less Elf, just like everybody else. But I'm of two minds about it, only because we're at the point where every game is a big game, and I'm not sure IQ/Frank is ready for that - and I don't have a great feeling about playing Rose a lot of minutes. I guess I'm paranoid about wearing him out.

I'd hate to have Rose not be available for the playoffs, should they get there. His experience is going to be really important, and if that means putting up with Elf a bit more in the regular season, so be it.

I think that's pretty much what we're going to see. I think the last couple games, Payton's played under 20 minutes.

As for Frank, IQ, Knox, and Obi, I'm hoping that Thibs has a plan to utilize them. We need them to be confident in the playoffs should we need them and I think that we will.

The margin for error is razor thin. And to add to that:

Knicks have the 6th hardest SOS remaining in the NBA; 2nd hardest in the Eastern Conference (according to Tankathon)

Atlanta is 18th
Boston is 20th
Miami is 21st
Charlotte is 23rd

So yes, the margin for error is razor thin.

I keep reading the bolded part, yet I am not certain it is entirely true. Sure, we have to play many tough teams in our remaining games (and there's that dreadful west coast trip waiting in the corner) but this SOS thing doesn't seem to take into account anything else than the record of the teams we play, I feel it completely ignores other variables, such as back-to-backs or injury to key players.

In fact, if you take a closer look at the remaining schedule (at least as displayed in the NBA mobile app) you would see that we only have 3 back-to-backs (counting today's game and tomorrow's) while we would be in the recipient end of 5 teams on their second night of their back-to-back (2 of those are in our own second game in a back-to-back). I believe that's gotta be one of the best ratios of back-to-backs (if that even exists) in the remaining schedule in the league(though I'm too lazy to look out this info for every single team, the only other one I did it for was for the Mavs and they have a worse ratio even though their schedule is supposedly way easier)

I don't know if i have explained myself properly, but the main take is that I feel that our remaining schedule is not as bad as it may seem on paper and this team has already shown they can break expectations so I wouldn't be surprised if we manage to snatch that home-court advantage.

Current 1st rd matchup: Milwaukee

Would be so big if we can sneak into the 4-5 matchup to play Boston or Atlanta, even bigger if we can pull home court.

If we slide, I’d actually prefer facing the Nets because I think they’re a bunch of (talented) b*tchassez who’d get embarrassed (but ultimately win). Embiid/Simmons/Tobi and the Milwaukee D will cause fits for Jules and RJ in the lane. I’d much rather play the “soft as hell” Nets, to quote once-a-Knick-always-a-Knick Mo Harkless.

For sure the nets would be the easiest of the top 3, especially with their fragility, I doubt they will even be at full strength. If they win top spot, and we secure 5, is the best case scenario for us.

Just played the first one on Sunday! A vets benefit, outside gig, nice day, it was great. But, damn, I'm out of shape. When it was over I felt like I played football all day instead of guitar.

It's a little slow, but the calendar's starting to fill up. I figure by June I should be working pretty steadily. Hope so, anyway.

Knicks better not be feeling themselves, because the team doesn't have enough talent to not give 110% effort, otherwise most every NBA team can beat them.

Well, except Detroit. Which isn't currently fielding an NBA level team anyway.
