Objectively speaking most looked ugly back then as well.

Most basketball sneakers are hideous moonboots.

Yep. It's why I always get a chuckle out of people shelling out their sole for "Jordans" when most of them look like the creation of a 15 year old...

Yeah this is a lie.

Besides the higher end Nikes, most were crap that just looked like Weapons/AF1s with something weird on them.

The ones you remember are the good ones.

Zion is in his second year, hasn't even sniffed the playoffs and he already been on the cover of 2K and has his own signature shoe. How is this even fair considering that he has accomplished so little?

I remember the Penny's foamposite, the Iverson shoes, early Kobe's, Jordan's, a ton of other shoes Nike made, the Shaq Reebok shoes. They were dope! Not a fan of the new modern shoes, just my take.

Missed a golden chance to market a shoe with specifically tougher construction to hold up better with heavy players, given Zion's experience.

The Adidas Kobe space shoes come to mind.

2001 doesn’t sound like the 90s does it?

The design is alright, but the materials look uncomfortable. If it were my shoe, give me those premium materials for a lifestyle shoe, and some flyknit like LBJ gets. All this plastic and mesh makes my feet hurt

I guess it's a basketball shoe?

They don't look much different from Air Jordans.

I think it makes sense that a lot of the newer basketball shoes look similar and uninspired as they've focused more and more on function and the designs are more than constrained than before.

Paul George and KD are only guys that have a decent line of sneakers from the current generation.
Westbrook, Harden and now Embiid and Zion(with LeBron, Curry, Lillard and Giannis not far behind) have awful designs with a few exceptions.
