chris paul should really take tips from this guy. he should start to experiment with behind the back passes through guys legs - and once in a while pass it to someone who is clearly not open toward the end of the shot clock.

Against the Celtics he has zero assists and three turnovers thus far at the break.

He is amazing. I did not understand how good he really is until having him on the Suns and watch him every single game.
And he plays great defense, on the ball and off the ball, he is always in the right place at the right time and knows when to be agressive going for the steal or the charge.
And he’s literally half the player he was at like 30.
This really is by far the worst basketball he’s played since he was able to drink alcohol legally.
When he was fast, had his brakes, and had his body control, having him on your team was practically indistinguishable from having LeBron. His impact was really that high for some years there. Really 2011 to 2018.
Swinging for the fences.

It was all good until the LeBron comparison... LeBron went to 9 finals with 4 finals MVPs and 4 MVPs.

I’ll put it this way, Clippers Chris Paul is flat out better than Lakers LeBron in the RS. LeBron explodes a bit in the PS but on a nightly basis prime CP3 would take the Lakers to higher heights.
It took until like 2019 for LeBron to have a clearly better RS than Chris Paul starting from 2014.
Chris Paul’s motor has been finished since 2020, but he went about 8 straight years of truly busting his ass on defense. No coasting, no nonsense on either end.
Really he’s superior on both ends in the RS. But if LeBron matches his motor in the PS it’s too much.
Swinging for the fences.

but you are using LAC prime CP3 (age 26-31) to compare with 35 yr Lakers' LeBron, who could afford to cruise a bit in the regular season. I would still take 2020 regular season LeBron over most, if not all, LAC's CP3. For similar aged players in this span (2014-2021), Westbrook, Curry, and Harden all had more impactful seasons. Heck, I started the thread, don't want to turn myself into a CP3 hater here.

Chris Paul is a superior defensive player to all of the guys you just listed. Save for LeBron I guess considering the playoffs. But LeBron took it easy on high motor defense a ton since 2013. He hasn’t been bad save for 14, and 18, but not elite or close save for 16, 17, maybe a couple more seasons at best.
Chris Paul was elite for many years as a guard on defense. Practically, there’s no way LeBron he CP3’s game impact in 2014. The defense gap is ridiculous and very large. Same for 2018. If one guy is doing a -1.5 and the other a +1.5, that’s a + 3 difference. A whole tier. A whole class of playing level difference. And not just conceptually. In reality. Actual on court impact.
Westbrook’s offense flat out struggles to compete with Chris Paul’s as it is. The defense gap makes any season comparison easy.
One thing about Chris Paul compared to any high volume creator is his game has the least...like impurities I guess of anybody maybe ever.
If you cooked a batch of Westbrook crystal Meth, there would be 9% impurities full of turnovers and eating into other players games. Over-usage.
Literally look at the seasons Sabonis, Oladipo, and Schroeder had right after leaving Russ. Dennis peaked next to an old CP3 the very next year with CP3. That counts as impact that just won’t show up in the stat sheet.
There’s no chance he just over-usages guys out of peak seasons like Luka, Giannis, or Harden, his TOV rate is so incredibly low, and his off-ball game is really strong for a volume creator.
Westbrook’s offense is not as good as the 30/10 he got.
Any idea that makes you think Russ is better than CP3 offensively would lead you to thinking he topped Nash, Magic, Bird, Jokic offensively too.
Curry has impurities. Few, but one is obviously the lack of high level passing.
Harden is merely a better shooting version of prime Russ as far as what he does to a defense. Not necessarily aesthetically. But actual approach to offense? Yes. But he has clear off-ball and TOV issues.
With Chris Paul you essentially get all the strengths of volume creating and none of the typical weaknesses(spacing, usage, TOV). Which are all forms of possession waste. And does Chris Paul’s game come off as wasteful on any level? This high impact style of play isn’t new. He did as an elite athlete from 2008 to 2018.
It isn’t new for him, but it is rare. There’s really no comparison at guard. No one has ever been this good at mistake free basketball on both ends at either guard position.
All that is to say, prime Curry and Harden are better than CP3 offensively. But it’s not even close to the gap 11-15 points per game would tell you.
Not even somewhat close actually. The extra volume as a cost. And really the style of play has a cost.
Jokic is probably the greatest scoring and passing balance ever and it’s not close.
Swinging for the fences.
