Willing to give Keston a good amount of leeway considering I think the team is short on power bats as is (especially with Yellich on the mend), but yeah, it's not great when Vogelbach is looking like the better full-time option at 1st.

McKinney played 1B in spring training too.

That's what I'm thinking. If McKinney is the real deal, I'm not sure how long you let Keston flounder at the plate. Moving him back over to 2nd isn't ideal for your infield defense.

The issue with McKinney is he doesn't take many walks and strikes out a fair amount. Wasn't so much so early in the minors but you're going to get some wild inconsistencies with him.

He's mostly had years where he hits .235 with a .300 OBP but of course the power is there. In 2019 he was on a 25 HR pace for the Blue Jays but he hit .215/.274.

So he's a useful OF/1B with a bit of speed and power and was a 1st round talent. Better than what we're seeing out of Hiura right now but I'm not expecting him to be a career mainstay at 1B or something.

Basically, McKinney and Vogelbach will produce similar results. McKinney can run a bit more/give you some help in the OF and has slightly less power/ability to get on base than Vogelbach. Vogelbach is a DH beefcastle playing 1B. In the end, both will be replacement-level guys.

Hopefully they see something in Godley where they think he can stick and contribute the rest of the way. Because if it was just this spot start they could have just used Lauer or one of those dudes they got from the Braves to get through today.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yeah I know Bickford hasn’t been good but it’s a super small sample. I’d rather hold onto him than let him go for Godley
