How many games did Joel miss because of health and safety protocol? Because I am seeing many arguments of Joel missed 18 games so he should not be the MVP when he only really missed 10 games because of injury. Maybe it is fair to include his missed games due to rest on back to backs but to include games missed because of health and safety protocol is not fair IMO.

I believe 1 after all-star break, and 1 early in the season, but I'm not sure if that game was made up.

Just the Chicago game. Others were injury.

How about the nuggets game where we only played 7 players? I think that was the first game after Curry got the covid. Did they just rest him knowing we wont win the game anyway or is he part of the protocol?

Probably the former but he was officially listed out with an injury.

Jokic is playing well and I dont really care about these awards. But it wouldnt be nice to win the MVP just because you played more games than the other guys who played better.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

It will be between him and Jokic. Both are having fantastic numbers and impact. It would be refreshing to see a C winning the MVP, so the narrative part is also in their favour.

Jokic has an advantage because he's played 50% more games than him. That's a lot.

I think the only way for Biid to win is to not miss anymore games and to finish the season strong securing at least the 1st seed in the East(and a top 3 seed in the league), while Denver struggles a bit with Murray out.

Embiid is the better player on both ends of the floor hands down.
They can give the award to who ever they want.

FWIW these numbers (without accounting for vig) mean Jokic is ~69% to win and Embiid is ~29%. In reality, the % of the time they think Embiid will win will be slightly less.
jonjames is a signature bet welcher.

What’s going to be annoying is how Embiid will be 2nd team All-NBA again even with other worldly production.

Because the nba insists on going with positions still, which is ironically because people thought if you didn’t keep positions then centers would never make the first team.

With regards to the argument that Jokic should be the MVP because he hasn't missed games, then the Nuggets should have won more if Jokic played more games than Embiid. Is availability more important than winning games?

Sixers are 30-10 with Embiid playing and the Nuggets are 38-20 with Jokic playing. The Nuggets just won 8 more games when Jokic played. If the season ended where the difference in their wins is significantly more than just 8 games, then Jokic should be the MVP because of the wins he helped generating, not just because he played more games than Embiid.

Finals MVP is the only one I care about.

AI winning in 2001 was great, but I would’ve swapped that for 3 more wins against the Lakers in a second.

Well, as you might have noted, we have a history of building stupid teams around one great player.
