Southeast Showdown: Heat vs Hawks

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Fri Apr 23, 2021 4:40 pm

Heat aim for four straight wins when they visit Hawks tonight

Image

The Miami Heat (31-28) visit the Atlanta Hawks (32-27) tonight with another opportunity to climb up the standings if they can extend their current win streak.

While the Heat are for the most part healthy, the Hawks will be severely shorthanded tonight at home. Star guard Trae Young went down with a sprained left ankle during their last game and has been ruled out for tonight. Atlanta (16-11 at home) has already been without key players such as Danilo Gallinari, De’Andre Hunter, and Cam Reddish. And now Clint Capela is also listed as questionable for tonight with a back injury.

The two teams meet for the third and final time this season, with Miami emerging victorious 109-99 in their first matchup and Atlanta winning 94-80 in the last meeting on March 2. Playoff positioning makes this an important game to win, with the Heat in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and the Hawks at the No. 5 seed.

This team really steps up when guys are injured.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Sometimes silence is golden in a game thread when the game is going on.

We made a statement Hawks

Watched the first half live and the second in replay, and... great great win! Perfect scenario.
I hope that each guy can keep the same feeling even if rotations will change once everybody is healthy. It's incredible how without injuries this team would be in the MIL record already, but let's admit they got some injuries in the top3 teams too.
I can't wait to see the full roster playing together, and if McMillan find the best lineups depending of matchups, they can do some damages, only the lake of experience can hurt a bit.

I understand this is a meandering Lukewarm team the Hawks beat but I haven't been as proud of a team since the 8th seeded team vs. the top seeded Celtics. Guy stepping up all over the place.

I feel confident they can survive w/o Young with a .500 record rest of the way and secure atleast the 6th seed. I'm getting really antsy about Hunter and his injury. He should be playing and getting ready for the playoffs.
