While I can't blame the FO for keeping our core and going all in with them, I blame the FO for keeping our core and not taking advantage of Jimmy's window

But I blame Jimmy too; if he wanted roster upgrades he should've spoken up- he didn't.

If stars/superstars don't insist on roster upgrades they usually don't happen. I blame Iggy too, cause phuck that dude

It's not a matter of FO being satisfied with the roster. There was a plan, Giannis. Jimmy knew about the plan. Unfortunately the plan had risks and it didn't work out.
Now its just about getting through the season and so that they can reass their options in the summer. We all know how Riley operates they are about now. If they see a long term move that could lead to a dynasty like getting Giannis they will be patient. Otherwise they will make moves for now. I 100 % gurantee they would stand pat in the summer. In fact they didn't in the trade deadline, unfortunately again the gamble they took with Oladipo didn't work out.
You can criticize whether they made the right decisions. But to be fair to the FO you can't say they are standing pat. Not everything works out

Not making moves this summer was the same as saying they were content, hoping for Giannis wasn't a plan or action

Press: “ what do you mean by the rope”
Spo: “ I don’t really know, but just don’t let go”
Press: “ ok so, what exactly is the process”
Spo: “ I don’t know, but I like the way it sounds when I say it”
Press: “ok last question, what adjustments are you planning to make to improve rebounds and defense “
Spo: “don’t let go of the rope nor the process.

Let go of the Iguodala rope.

Miami outrebounded by 8 and Atlanta's bench outscored Miami's 51-21. Of course, Iguodala had yet another game with 0 points. And who got the most minutes off the bench? Iguodala. The guy who didn't score.

Sad to see Adebayo only manage 16 points against a rookie in Okongwu and an average defender in Collins.

Bam and Yimmy combining for 4 rebounds and 9 turnovers hasn't really helped our cause

Sure, but this team gave up 118 points to a team that had their 2 best players not playing, that's a lack of defense.

Can scream defense all we want, not beating teams barely scoring over a hundred

you never know what heat team your going to get. no excuses, team got flat out outplayed. cant blame one player, collectively the team sucked. rebound next game we move. the only hope at this point is that we peak near the end of playoffs, if we go into the postseason as is its a 1st round exit.

Yeah, I’m with what Wiltside said. At this point, it’s time to accept this team just isn’t that good. Feels like we’ve had countless opportunities this season to separate ourselves from the pack, go on a bit of a run, and we’ve faceplanted every time.

The roster, front office, coaching has got to do a lot of soul searching this summer.

Injured Dipo is doing no one favors. Not a good sign that he comes back from injury only to get injured. Riley might have been bamboozled on that deal.

And you can't blame Spo. He is one of the best defensive coaches in the league.

To have the 7th best defense in the league when he has only two quality defenders is amazing. They hoped Ariza and Iggy would help, but they are past their prime. This is a personnel issue. You can't build your offense around shooters like Robinson and Herro and think the rest of the team game won't suffer.

In retrospect, giving up Robinson, Herro and multiple picks for Harden would have been the move. Overvaluing your personnel is a problem.

The league ORTG is 112.1, Miami's team ORTG for the game was 112.7 THEY HAD ENOUGH OFFENSE.

Atlanta's ORTG last night was 129.1 <-- THE DEFENSE WAS BAD.

Dedmon's DRTG was the only one near league average, everyone else's was bad.

4 REB with 9 TOs is significantly hurting the defense tho; 2nd chance opportunities and transition offense off live TOs are two of the most easily exploitable kinds of offensive possessions

9 TOs didn't really alter the defense much other then 2 fast break scores, not getting defensive rebounds may have but Atlanta only got 8 offensive rebounds which is 2 less then what Miami usually gives up per game. The defense was just bad.

You can actually go look at the TOs.
https://www.nba.com/game/mia-vs-atl-0022000898/box-score#box-score

Then click on the stats you want to see videos of things like Bam's 5 TOs.

Of Bam's 5 TOs, 2 were on his teammates.
1. Robinson stops on his DHO and Huerter steals the ball, Bam points to himself. <- Possibly not on Bam.
2. Bam loses the ball trying to drive.
3. Bam passes to a cutting Robinson and he just misses the ball, Bam gets the TO. <- Not on Bam.
4. A defender falls, Herro calls for the ball so Bam passes it expecting Herro to be wide open and it's stolen by someone switching. <- Not on Bam. (possible 4 point turn around).
5. Lazy pass into Butler.

Of Butlers 4 TOs
1. Bad bounce pass to Dedmon.
2. Butler tried to get contact to get to the line, didn't get it and tried to dump it off to Bam vs shoot a close shot.
3. Offensive foul after Atlanta got it overturned(which it was an offensive foul).
4. Lazy pass stolen by Lou Williams(possible 4 point turnaround).

Also this stood out to me in the 4th, Herro brings the ball down, calls his own number, gets blocked, Atlanta gets a fast break layup the other way. Another possible 4 point turn around.

Just in those 10 possessions above, 3 of them led to 6 easy fast break points for Atlanta, possibly a 10-12 point swing just because Atlanta was hustling and playing defense, something Miami does from time to time.
