Curry is a phenominal player, the greatest shooter ever, the foundation for one of the most successful most amazing teams ever (I'm talking about their first title through their 73 win season). He'll be in the hall of fame and talked about long after his actual playing days are over.
All that being said recency bias and the media dirven business of the NBA in fact oversells this guy because he is likeable, relateable and photgenic. He is a great, but he doesn't belong in the top ten conversations some some people here react negatively simply because they are jaded by this oversatuation of Curry media. he can both be a great guy and still miss the playoffs, those two things are not incompatible.

Curry is possibly the greatest offensive force in the history of basketball? He's not Jesus man, he cannot sink 3 pt. shots while walking on water, that's an awful lot of hype for your poor guy to have to live up too. No wonder people are making such high (and equally ridiculous) demands that he contend surrounded by garbage, if he is a basketball miracle he currently would be contending.... unfortunately he is just a human being, and you know what? What's wrong with a comparison to Lillard? Dame is also a really good shooter, Steph is better of course at that, Lillard surely has attributes to his game that are more complete than Steph.

He wasn't even the top player on his team when KD was there, so what that makes the top 5 players of all time Lberon, MJ, Wilt (in whatever order you choose to put those three guys) then KD then Steph? He is amazing, he is historic, he is important to the NBA, but you don't have to shoehorn him into anything more sacred than that.

i think WarriorsGM goes way overboard in his Steph praise, but other than that, most people are pretty tempered when it comes to Steph, I don't know if even most people have him in their top 20 all time (maybe we can run a thread to see)...but it's not insane to have Steph in the top 12-18 range say all time...who cares if a few people have him higher? there are a bunch of people that have him much lower, too. that shouldn't affect your opinion specifically.

Steph is a tough guy to rank because he’s so unconventional in a myriad of ways, so the amount of discourse— and wildly varying opinions— isn’t surprising.
What annoys me is when people make “arguments” that are surface-oriented, and often silly and easily disproven...
...and after that happens, the same handful of posters continue to parrot those stupid narratives anyway, oftentimes creating thread after thread (thinly veiled) to do so.
There are reasonable ways to take shots at Steph and any other player. When you do the aforementioned instead of highlighting those things, people are going to call you out.

It’s not that you said anything false, because you didn’t.
It’s about projecting Steph to be a top 5 player as if it’s some kind of obvious inevitability. It’s not.
Hardware and longevity matter in these “all time” discussions— more than they should, but they do. Steph is lighter in those areas if we’re talking top 5...
Steph’s defense (or, on this case, lack thereof) is massively overly bashed, but he is not a great defender, by any stretch of logic. He’s average. When we’re picking nits at this level (top 5), that counts.
I personally have Steph in that 12-14 range, which is right where I have Durant. If you have him 15-20, that’s reasonable to me; if you start punting him out of the top 20, I start raising my eyebrows.
To jump higher he’ll need another title as the team’s best player— something that matters WAY more to me than voted upon awards like MVP and FMVP.
