Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
How is it possible that he contracted the flu with all the covid protocols and stuff?
"There have been fewer influenza cases in the United States this flu season than in any on record. About 2,000 cases have been recorded since late September, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In recent years, the average number of cases over the same period was about 206,000.
As measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus were implemented around the country in March 2020, influenza quickly disappeared, and it still has not returned. The latest flu season, which normally would have run until next month, essentially never happened."

This is from an article written a few days ago. I mean, wtf?? He appears to be one of the rare people in the US who got the flu and this probably ruins our first seed...I guess with our bizarre disease luck we can be happy it's not the Spanish flu...

Okc is tanking. So don’t need full squad.
But hawks alwsys give Sixers problems recently with their pick and roll. So hopefully Ben is back by than. Not sure how long trae young is out with the ankle. With kD back. Nets may not give up 1st place.

This Ben thing is the shadiest thing I’ve ever seen.
Literally no one in the history of the NBA has needed to miss 5+ games with a normal “illness”

Don't want to speculate. But if you're healthy enough to get your own groceries, I really do doubt whether you're actually sick... He's out with someone as well. Starting to think more and more, this has to do with the stuff about his sister.

Yeah but can you blame us? What kind of illness is going to keep you out for two weeks? Mono? The Flu? Tuberculosis? A parasite?

Mono can keep you out. Fatigue. Swollen lymph nodes.
Let’s just hope he’s back soon.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
This is a classic example of how bad Pompey is. Here is what Doc said:
How do you take this quote and continue to run with it being the flu? He's clearly just saying stuff. You are a beat writer for a major newspaper, use your brain and don't just mindlessly repeat what you hear. All of the other beat writers are just saying "illness" because that's what the official injury report says.
Could be the flu, could be mono or some other illness, could some personal thing. If it's the latter I doubt you're ever getting anything out of Simmons about it.
Rivers mentioned on Wednesday that Simmons had the flu when asked if Simmons would fly with the team to its two games against the Bucks. On Saturday, the coach was asked specifically if Simmons has the flu.
“I don’t know what it is,” Rivers said. “I’m assuming it’s the flu. Yeah, we’ve done other blood work, and that’s what it is. But it’s knocked it out, and it is what it is.”

The pictures on the bottom of this with him enjoying wine makes me think the illness is bs and it's the Liv Simmons thing. No way you're consuming alcohol if you have a crazy flu.
It's fine if he needed the time off to deal with that. Just don't tell me it's an illness. In this day and age of social media it's really easy to suss this stuff out.

Looks like he's playing now lol. Guess too many people were figuring things out on social media. Shame the team couldn't do a better job on communicating this.

Re: The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part IV
If Ben needed time off. That’s fine. Personal reasons whatever.
I don’t know if we would have won the bucks games on back to back nights with him. But obviously Suns and warriors games were winnable.
But other teams have had injuries as well. Just the way the season has gone. Too bad it cost us first seed. And we hanging on for second see.
I don’t know if sixers able to reclaim 1 seed. They would need to go 9-3 at minimum. Maybe 10-2. If KD is healthy for nets.

Someone who can actually handle serious discussion on the BBC? Of course his ex’s ex-father is running for Gov of California, but that whole Kardashian fascination is kind of vapid and a waste.
