Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
7 of their last 10 games are against over .500 teams (including us, we really need to beat them on Thursday). That said, it wouldn't be hard for them to move up to the 3rd, 4th, 5th worst record, which drastically reduces our odds of a top 5 pick.
And if the pick doesn't convey this year, I have a feeling it's even worst next year even though it's unprotected.
Should have traded that **** pick, its value is going down by the day. Literally by the day.

The dangers of having a losing mentality instead of a winning one. Others determine your fate.

UCLA Bob will take Johnny Juzang based on the Bruin's connection (see Looney also) and to bolster the Vietnamese American South Bay fan base.
All kidding aside, if the Warriors managed to get the 6th pick from the Wolves, I think Davion Mitchell is a great fit here. Older rookie, plays D, shoots well, plays a team game. He might not be as glamorous or have a high ceiling as the top 5, but he's ready to contribute in a role we desperately need to fill (no offense to Jordan Poole). Marcus Smart with a better shot isn't a bad ceiling.
lmao yes, let's draft a backup PG with the 6th overall pick. brilliant.
If we ended up with the #4 pick and Cade/Green/Mobley were all off the board, would you be ok with selecting Suggs?
I think we will be targeting a backup PG this draft, but it depends where our picks land.

yes, because Suggs is a star?

Suggs isn't even going to make it to #4

I'm not Clyde, but I'll gladly take up your question: of course.
Suggs is a future All-Star. Very good player, excellent fundamentals, sneaky athleticism, reminds me of Brandon Roy.
Plus, he can play on and off the ball.
A player like him would instantly get 25/28 minutes, maybe even more, in our current rotation... as a rookie.
A guard rotation with Curry, Suggs, Poole, and with Klay getting some minutes on SF due to matchups, would be one of the guard rotations in the entire league.
An argument could be made that every one of the consensus top 5 picks could be immediately plugged into our rotation without any of the top 6/7 losing any playing time, it's just a matter of adjusting the minutes.

If Mitchell’s shot translates he’ll be better than Suggs. But is his 1 year of shooting real or is it mirage.

Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
Mitchell this high is insanity, he's a nice off-bench PG that can defend and run some half court sets for you, but you don't take those guys in the top 10 or lotto, just a dumb waste of draft capital...what's the difference between Mitchell and guys like Jevon Carter and Tre Jones who went much later in the draft?
if you want a defensive guard that can hit some 3s, just take a Deuce McBride in the 2nd, heck, even Jared Butler would be better later in the first
i feel like i am in the twilight zone here...I really have to talk people out of drafting a 6-foot 23-year-old rook PG in the top10? some of yall deserve Myers tbh.

can someone explain to me why Mitchell should be a top10 pick while Carter was a 2nd rounder?

Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
Its been quite a journey watching people finally understand the mathematical reality that getting the 4th pick was always a slim, slim chance. This entire board and thread was littered with what we were gonna do with the 4th pick as people now whinge about how we should have traded it, because apparently other GMs would have assumed it was going to be the #4 pick
sort yourselves out

Mitchell has elite burst and first step. He’s able to get by his defender with ease. If his shot is legit albeit it only really worked for him his junior year he’ll be able to leverage his quickness to get his shot at any time. Carter should be Mitchell’s floor. But Mitchell’s quickness is what separates him from Carter.
You look at Mitchell and he’s creating a lot of his shots himself.

Uh... well without knowing anything about the two, this is kind of a weird statistical comparison when one of them is an entirely different stratosphere than the other in terms of efficiency

ok? TS%? 62% to 55%, meanwhile Carter has the edge in PER, DRTG, BPM and almost all defensive metrics, also much better FT shooter. is that why Mitchell is top 10 and Carter was 2nd round?
man...I can't wait for us to spend a top 6 pick on a 6-foot 23-year-old PG who shoots 60% from the FT line. lmao.

Would you take a player that can guard 1-3 reliably, can shoot 3s and can get a shot whenever he wants? That seems pretty valuable. I would probably take him over Suggs to be honest. Especially if he’s really 6’2” but I was targeting davion with our own pick so more likely in the teens.

Re: Wolves season watch thread for the 2021 pick
I like Mitchell as an option 15-20.
But to have him over Suggs is wild.
Also, defending 1-3 is just assuming he's like Smart or Dort, but those guys had like 25 lbs on Mitchell like 3 years younger. I see him being more of a Jevon Carter, CP3, Pat Bev style defender. Very good, but not someone you want trying to lock up a wing.

I'm not defending him, I have no idea who either of these players are, I'm just saying you're bringing up their stats without even understanding them. 62 to 54 is an astronomical difference - and why are you bringing up FT shooting when ignoring TS?
Your argument makes no sense

Supposedly Jazz players were telling Donovan that Davion's game is very similar to his.
Donovan agreed.

b/c FT% is one of the best indicators of shooting at the next level, there's a reason Tankathon projects Carter as having a better 3pt% in the NBA than Mitchell.
as for your point, you think TS% is the reason Mitchell is top10 to you and Carter was a 2nd rounder? Because that was the original premise, if you disagree with that why are you even arguing?
