I refuse to be one of those vultures that constantly wishes for star players to demand out, especially after all the dumb Giannis free agency crap the past few years. I hope that Beal stays in DC and they can build something with that young nucleus around him. Ditto for Lillard, Steph, Zion, Tatum, Fox, Morant, etc.

As far as keeping more teams trying later in season the play in game has been a huge success. Makes these games so much more meaningful for the teams in the 5-8 range as the jockey to get to 6. Also keeping teams like New Orleans, washington, chicago trying for that 10 spot.
I really don't care that its 'unfair' for those 7 and 8 seeds so I consider the whole expirement a success. If you want to make the playoffs finish top 6; hell that's not even the top 1/3 of the league.

They're 10-2 in their last 12.
I wasn't aware of that either until I heard SImmons and House discussing on their podcast. Russ apparently has gotten his act together.
And Daniel Gafford, the through in center they got in the deal with the Bulls is playing like a poor man's Ben Wallace.
And don't get me started on RoLo. He's doing great also.
It'll be interesting to see if they can keep the pace. Still 10th in the standings but not much separation between teams. Time might be against them with only so many games left to play but it's possible they could squeak in. I guess when I said rotting, maybe I should have said lightly molding
I do like Rui and Deni Avdija but they are years away from making noise.

If Russ gets his act together in Washington that John Wall swap looks even worse.
I thought the Rockets had gotten more but they only received 1 lottery-protected 2023 first-round.
Houston was put in a seriously tough spot by Harden but their rebuild plan is not off to a good start.

Morey left Houston in a pretty awful spot but then the current regime doubled down on the stupidity and got basically nothing for Westbrook and Harden. They're now 4-36 in their last 40 games (I didn't believe it at first), and John Wall might have just put up the most empty 20/7/3 stat line in NBA history (50% TS and negative win shares).
If they don't get at least a Top-2 draft pick (Suggs or Cunningham) out of this then......yikes

Morey got jammed down there. But then he jammed them by getting out into a better situation. Amazing.

Atleast they have former Bucks star DJ Wilson

Boston lost to OKC at home and somehow I’d still hate if we drew them in round one.

I love that the Bulls made win now trades and might not even make it to the play-in round. Hammond is a **** idiot but at least when he made his dumb **** trades the team managed to make the playoffs.

Except for the time he accidentally out-tanked Hinkie.

I bet Kevin Love gets bought out this offseason.
Cavs were kidding themselves if they really were seeking 'big value in return' for him.
After this latest stunt and history of injuries they probably can't even get neutral value for that contract. The example of Blake Griffin giving back money to get out is probably the best they can hope for.

At the very least, Love has to be suspended one game for his actions Monday. J.R. Smith was suspended for throwing a bowl of soup and later dismissed from the team for his attitude. Andre Drummond was sent away because of his attitude. Kevin Porter Jr., while battling his own personal issues, was traded after a locker room outburst earlier this season. None of their actions deliberately hurt the team on the court the way Love’s did Monday. Regardless of his intent, that can’t happen. He has to sit.
If this were an isolated incident, what happened Monday might not have blown up like it has. It’s all of the other events preceding Monday between Love and the Cavs that have brought us here.
The Cavs have tried for years to trade Love, but they were seeking big value in return when other teams were demanding compensation just to take the contract. Love would like to play for a contender again, but that’s unlikely to happen given his current deal.
Ultimately, both sides might agree to a buyout. Love has about $60 million remaining on his contract over the next two years. Blake Griffin, another Jeff Schwartz client, gave back $13 million of the $75 million owed to him to get out of Detroit. If Love wants to give back $10 million or $15 million, the Cavs might accommodate him and send him on his way. They can stretch the money owed to him, and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time Dan Gilbert has paid people not to work for him.

You gotta sign that extra big ass contract with your eyes open to what it means for your prospects of playing elsewhere if things go sideways, which by the way when Love signed that deal, things had ALREADY gone sideways.
It's not like he got blindsided by them rebuilding. They were rebuilding when he signed. And they've made good progress this year. Retire.

Can't wait for Kevin Love to get bought out, sign for the minimum with Brooklyn or LA next year, then magically start giving effort and turn back into a productive floor spacing big.

The correct response is to tell Dan Gilbert to get bent regardless of circumstance.

Kevin is definitely out of line, but there’s also a long track record of players getting increasingly frustrated there. That’s a tough franchise to play for at the moment.
I can think of a few million reasons that Kevin should be acting professionally though.

It was like the Paul situation in OKC. Not only did he sign that contract, he helped negotiate the super max that allowed him to make more money in a way that would cripple teams and making it hard to build a winner. To his credit, he sulked very little in OKC and obviously has done great in PHX. I just never felt bad for him him when the trade went down.

Feels like neither side was being honest with themselves when Love signed that extension. Love knew a rebuild was happening and the Cavs should have known from Loves past behavior he probably wasn't going to be a great guy to lead that. He should have been dealt the summer they lost LeBron. I don't feel bad for either side here.

Apparently the 76ers are interested in pursuing Lowry but that's not tampering because it's not the Bucks
