Tough to post but lol ya I didn't love it as much either.
Kind of a direct rip off of Wilt Chamberlain's 100

The Comedian wrote:What we’ve seen since the all star break is Tatum just has a gear that only 6-7 other players in the league can hit.
Dude is averaging 28/8/5 on a 61% TS in 26 games since the all star break. And it’s not like he’s on some unsustainable burner shooting the ball or anything, his splits are 48/41/88, just slightly above his career numbers.
His upside is scary high. He’s not going to be in his age 25 season until 2023-2024, think about that.

There were quite a few, that I know of, that had Jonathan Isaac higher on the draft board than Jayson Tatum.
Isaacs is a pretty talented guy though, it’s not like the analysts could’ve predicted his health problems.
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.
Ben-N1ce wrote:You can say that about any decent playoff team. The Celtics have show zero ability to play good basketball for even 3 quarters a game for a few games in a row even. I'd like to believe it but the defense has been bad to mediocre the whole season. Maybe they can catch some weird no back to backs lightning in a bottle but I've seen no evidence.
The Comedian wrote:A 38% usage with 0 turnovers in over 40 minutes is impressive in itself. Never mind the 60 and his defense, Scal was in awe in the postgame.

I'm a big Paul Pierce fan, but you can see the trajectory of Jayson Tatum's career.
Only way Tatum doesn't surpass Pierce is if the NBA ceases to exist, for whatever reason.
There's just no stopping the Jayson Tatum train.
Jayson Tatum is on a collision course with greatness.
I VERY much look forward to JT supplanting Paul in the top 3/4 pantheon of Celtic greats.
Let’s talk 5-7 years from now!
Tatum has more natural talent then Pierce, but Pierce had a warriors heart, time will tell if Tatum does as well.

Paul Pierce never scored 60 points his whole career.
Jayson Tatum is not chasing Paul Pierce, he's chasing the great Larry Bird!
Captain_Caveman wrote:Only 30 players have ever scored 60 in a regular season game. Kemba and Bird have also done it.
In the world where he gets the continuation and hits the FT for 61 points, the number of players at 61+ in a game drops to 22, with no Kemba or Bird. Of the 76 games where someone scored 60+ and the 60 games someone scored 61+, Wilt had 32 and 29 of them, respectively. There have only been 11 games with someone scoring 70+, with 6 of them being Wilt. One of the others was Devin Booker in a loss in Boston a few years ago.
There have only been 34 games since 1978 where someone scored 60+, and only 20 with someone scoring 61+. In the last 20 years, there have only been 23 and 13, respectively.
There have been two playoff games with a scorer at 60 points or above. Jordan dropping 63 on the 1986 Celts (Bulls were swept), and Elgin Baylor dropping 61 on the 1962 Celts to put the Lakers up 3-2 in a Finals that we eventually won in 7.

Captain_Caveman wrote:Ah, man... since I'm the only one who will... someone has to talk about how good Marcus was out there. That was peak-TA caliber defense. DeRozan only had two buckets on him in like 20 possessions down the stretch, even though Pop was feeding him as much as we were feeding Tatum. And Demar was struggling harrrrrd on both of those baskets (with questionable calls on both). That was some absolutely next level ****.

Tatum was amazing. Tying Larry Bird for most points in Celtics history.
Two straight games now that Nesmith has outplayed Fournier and props to Brad for staying with Nesmith.
