I’m taking the MVP, would you take Horst over Giannis push come to shove? The Packer triumvirate at top failed to communicate and keep their franchise player happy, am I incorrect about the division of power between Murphy/Gute/MLF? I imagine Rodgers was just as pissed last year as he is now so I take this as a personal beef between Rodgers and Gute rather than organization or city. Rodgers has been here how long and they couldn’t predict his reaction? Maybe Gute had hoped Rodgers would demand out last year giving him cover to move him but instead Rodgers won the MVP and feels like he can say “**** you, now you’re fired”. I don’t see how Gute can continue on with his job if he does move Rodgers with it being personal, nobody in the stands is wearing Gute jerseys. Rodgers would probably play 10 more years to spite us, this would be a nightmare.

Re: 2021 Packers Off Season - Rodgers Dilemma
I'm going to make a point, it will most definitely fall on deaf ears for people that made up their minds and just want to be stuck. However, long, long, long ago in the NFL, like 10 years ago, it was basically unheard of to start a rookie QB. Drafting them and developing them before throwing them into the fire was the tried and true way to get more successful QBs. In fact, if you look at all the wasted first round picks at QB, guys that completely flamed out, almost all of them were thrust into starting roles way too soon.
So when we lazily call Love a 'back up QB that couldn't even get on the field last year' instead of a developmental QB that the organization believes has franchise QB capabilities, you will never be happy because you are framing the pick that Love prevented Rodgers from getting to the Super Bowl. Which is a ludicrous notion.

Re: 2021 Packers Off Season - Rodgers Dilemma
From the article posted. Hadn’t seen this angle anywhere else.
“The fracture points between Rodgers and Gutekunst largely revolve around the drafting of Jordan Love in 2020 without Rodgers having knowledge of the move. Since then, the source said Rodgers has believed that it was Gutekunst’s plan to move on from him after the 2020 season — but that Rodgers smashed that timeline with his MVP performance. Rodgers’ response, according to the source, was he presented the Packers with an opportunity to re-commit to him after the season with a new contract (with new guaranteed money) that would ultimately cement Green Bay’s “all-in” embrace of him as the starting quarterback for at least the next two seasons. The source said the Packers were not initially willing to consider anything beyond a modest restructure of Rodgers’ contract that would have done little more than guarantee the 2021 season.”
So I’ve pretty much been on the Packers side here but if all they had to do was give him 2 years guaranteed, that doesn’t seem like much.
My biggest thing right now is that if Aaron is going full nuclear, why not just throw everyone under the bus and come out publicly, say exactly what you wanted that they didn’t give you and call out who is to blame. He’d probably get more people on his side that way. Seems pretty childish to ask for a GM to be fired but then again, the MJ bulls were broken up because MJ, Pippen, and Phil couldn’t get along with Krause.

Wow, sounds like Gute is an idiot. Great evaluator of talent but no clue how to manage people. Explains why he’s not a regular GM, with MLF reporting to him.
What a mess.

Let's pretend Aaron Rodgers is a typical person, acting in a typical way, in a typical situation. Sure.

Clown show on multiple levels.
I wasn't in favor of drafting a QB but you can't have your 38 yr old QB firing the GM either. Probably should have traded Rodgers Thursday and then Gutes job would be riding on Love.
Murphy should be replaced as soon as possible.

Re: 2021 Packers Off Season - Rodgers Dilemma
After I started accepting that companies are just companies that care about money and not my best interests and/or feelings, I took this stuff less personally. Most of us want to follow our passions, but you are just an employee, and it's just a job unless you are in charge of it. Obviously it's not the same situation with Rodgers, more money, seemingly higher stakes, but the feelings are similar.
Unfortunately, it's been one of the lessons I again learned from the pandemic when many close friends were furloughed and never brought back. The company I work for is a "family", until it affects the bottom line.

Problem with this is Love is nowhere near ready. Throwing him in there now would reduce his chances for success exponentially.

Only a few more years before Murphy ages out of the board position and Ed Policy takes over. I have my doubts much would change though.

We're also at the point where Rodgers needs to actually make a direct statement and stop communicating only through leaks.

No, I'd argue Gute's job is talent acquisition and retention. I'd actually say MLF and the coaching staff are the people managers in a NFL organization.
But fair enough to say ego management is an important aspect for all.

Yeah, that would be tough, I'd probably try and talk someone like Alex Smith out of retirement. Josh McCown?
Probably best if we traded Rodgers to Denver and had Bridgewater come back to us as part of the deal.

Re: 2021 Packers Off Season - Rodgers Dilemma
It is amazing that the entire fan base is once again split down the middle, with half saying give in to the diva QB at all cost, and half saying the GM needs to be fired for using a pick on a QB instead of adding weapons.
It is so unreal, Packers fan civil war all over again.
I am curious how many people that were behind Favre are behind Rodgers now versus team. And how many team people that were with TT are now behind Rodgers this time around.
Has to be a fascinating psychological study in here somehow that would obviously lead to world peace.
