Plus, even if the top 5 picks are somewhat set in stone, stranger things have happened in NBA's history... if we do our homework right, we could get an awesome player, or even 2, including our own pick.

I'm excited for the draft lottery & draft night, as always.

it's like the good old days when the lottery and draft were the highlight of the season...except now they are 3 time champions and still have Steph!

only if we make the right pick

also there's a tier drop off in talent after 5, so getting the 6th vs. the 5th is a big difference.

Sure, that's not a given.

I was talking more about being well-positioned to improve the roster. What we do with the picks is another matter.

Let's say we subtract Oubre, Mulder, Bazemore and Lee, adding Klay, Jessup, Jalen Johnson and Jared Butler. That's a much improved roster.

Notice I didn't hypothetize a better outcome, like getting Green + Springer, trading Oubre for some better piece in a S&T, etc.

I actually think our top-end talent is enough to contend, if we improve our 4th/5th starters and/or 3/4 best bench pieces.

A season is long, much depends on the availability of the core players in each team come playoff time, plus their performance during this part of the year.

The bad news is us getting a top 5 pick this year is looking pretty bad. The good news is their pick conveying to us this year is looking better. If they end up 6th worst as I suspect they will (they're already up to 4th worst), the chance of the pick conveying to us this year goes up to about 70%. But it's likely it will be a #7 or #8 pick.

They went from 60% chance of 4 or 5 to less than 20% chance.

looks like 5-7 are now most possible scenario, likely either 6th or 7...which is a tier down in type of player from 4/5 but it is what it is, we should still be able to grab someone good if Myers knows what he's doing...hoping we get #5 because that limits his decision making process as much as possible, just take the last remaining out of the top 5 (likely Kuminga).

yeah, 4-5 is a much better player than they will get at 6-7 no doubt and I would be thrilled with Green and then Kuminga to a lesser degree. The lottery is such a crap shoot that it really will come down to luck.

if we get #5, I wouldn't mind a trade down to Indiana #12 + Sabonis, if that was offered I would probably take it, even tho I like Green/Kuminga...but if Suggs/Mobley are on the board probably not. if not offered tho just stay put and take whoever is left of the top5 obv.

might be unrealistic true, but going up from 12 to 5 you're drafting a whole different tier of player, essentially trading Sabonis and #12 for Kuminga, if they really like him it's worth it...maybe a package like #5 and Wiseman for Sabonis, #12 and Sumner might make more sense but yea, probably not.

I thought the Pacers were interested in trading Turner, not Sabonis.

The Celtics could have had Myles for essentially nothing and blew it. Celts front office almost makes our front office look "light years."

Minny has big games against both next week.
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

Looking like they will finish 6th worse now.

Odds at that spot.
2022 unprotected - 27.6%
2021 pick 4 - 9.6%
2021 pick 5 - 0.0%
2021 pick 6 - 8.6%
2021 pick 7 - 29.8%
2021 pick 8 - 20.5%
2021 pick 9 - 3.7%
2021 pick 10 - 0.1%

Can we tank the two OKC games?

I wouldn't mind trading our later pick and Wiseman for Turner.

just ran my daily mock draft simulator and the Warriors ended up with Jalen Green and Josh Giddey. Give me that all day every day.

I just want the Minny pick to get us a Jalen. Sure I prefer Green, but i'll settle for any of the 3 Jalen's.
