So what is narrative now to have someone else than Jokic? Can't be record that's gone. Nuggets is 3RD in the NBA Not just the west. Can't be stats Jokic has that too. So explain to me How Curry, Joel, CP3, Luka, etc can even have an argument? And don't tell me the only reason Jokic will be MVP is because of health

Of the ESPN panelists, I consider RJ probably the best among them (low bar). But it's just embarrassing that he's still floating the idea that the MVP race is close and that someone can swoop in and steal the MVP from Jokic. The race has been a wrap for a long time now.

Yeah for sure, but remember he is trying to sell a product, needs to keep people interested in the final 2 weeks. What is he going to say? The mvp race is over, the play-in format is stupid, lets fast forward to the first round.

You could tell he wasn't serious when he mentioned the other mvp candidates still in the race, including Giannis, Curry, Luka etc.. none of those guys will even catch Denver in the standings.

These analysts got to make their money. Gotta say it’s close to keep people interested + joker doesn’t sell as some of these other names can do.

I love Steph but how the hell is he in front of Luka when Mavs are far above GS in the rankings with arguably a worse roster than GS if you take away f Luka and Steph (especially with KP so often injured) and with Luka having overall better, more complete stats than Steph as well as being better defensively?

Dallas doesn't have a worse roster than GS.

But Luka has had a better season than Steph, even with the crazy April.

Draymond Green alone is a better player than any of the Mavs players not named Doncic, especially with Mavs's 2nd best player being so often injured.
The rest of respective rosters are overall equal.

Doncic should actually be in second spot he’s flown under the radar somehow but he’s been great.

I follow the 76ers and as sad as it is Embiid is never winning a MVP/DPOY ever. He has the capability (though defense has waned throughout past seasons, Matisse is easily the best defender now). Big guy shouldn’t play more than 65 games a year. Dude is super fragile (Only took this year seriously, will still miss every third game basically from here on out, can’t be MVP no matter which way you spin it).

Williams should be COTY. Paul sneaky chance for top 3.

Skill and stat-wise, Embiid has the potential to win an MVP some day, but unless he becomes less fragile than he has been thus far in his career or voters relax their (unwritten) "rules" about the number of games missed to realistically win (neither of which seems likely at this moment, but who knows), he won't. I think Sixers fans have to come to terms with that; that way you will be pleasantly surprised if it happens, rather than waiting for it to happen year after year, and be continually disappointed.

1. Jokic
2. Giannis/Curry/Embiid/Doncic

Slight edge to Jokic, but it’s out of these 5.

Also you can now throw in that he lost his #2 guy and they haven't missed a beat.

With Murray Denver is 31-17 (64% win%)
Without Murray Denver is 12-4 (75% win%)

There really is no argument that can be made for anyone else either than Jokic this year.

Think Jokic should get every single 1st place vote. He is the truest example of an MVP this year in every sense. A unanimous vote would piss a lot of people off, those who don’t seem to grasp that you don’t attach weights to your 1st place vote (like giving 90% of your 1st place vote to Jokic, 10% to Embiid), it’s just who you think should win regardless of how close it is. If everyone agrees that Jokic should win but player XYZ is a close 2nd, Jokic should get 100% of the first place votes.

Think the only other guy I think I would listen to an argument for is Steph Curry, if you’re one of those people who truly doesn’t care about W/L in the MVP discussion and you care solely about individual impact. Like the argument that Steph carrying the worst team in the league without him to a potential playoff berth is as valuable as what Jokic is doing, I can at least kinda see that.

If jokic somehow pulls Denver to first overall(which I might add is very slim chance) he should be unanimous MVP. Heck right now Denver is 3rd place overall in the NBA. That is without their starting back court and their 6 man and back up pg. Just look at Denver’s backcourt

People were talking about Denver sliding to the 6th seed without Murray. Smh at those that doubt the Joker.

I think Jokic is the true MVP, but they can’t give it to the best player on the 3rd place Nuggets. Many guys have been robbed of the award in the past because of standings. If they give it to him now, they have explaining to do

You do know Denver has the THIRD best record in all of the NBA right. If Denver was in the east they would be in first place. This is without 2nd best player and their starting back court and backup pg. Tell me what explaining has to be done.

They gave it to Westbrook,OKC being the 6th seed in the Western Conference , then who should they give it to Durant,Harden,Irving,Paul,Gobert ,Embiid :-? Its not that difference between 1st and 4th team in the Conference is ten plus game, its only three games at the moment, by the way Denver have beaten Suns two times this season, won the season series, and Denver was struck with so many injuries this season, they are playing without three important players right now and Denver's second best player is out of this season. Who would be robbed this season if they award Jokic??? I don't see any plausible case . And what is the entity that should explain somebody why they awarded Jokic , if he wins MVP title???

Just as I predicted, Raptors choking down the stretch. Lakers will win this game, the media will be talking about how LeBron is back in the MVP race in the morning.
