Probably Magic, no one calls him Earvin.

Dr. J might be the coolest.

Aarosmith is an amazing nickname, btw. I don't think anyone from the Celtics board has thought of that :o

To a St. John's fan, or really any New Yorker, Walter Berry is The Truth and he had the nickname over a decade before anyone ever heard of Paul Pierce.

Iceman, Mailman, the Answer, Walt "The Wizard" Williams, Sam "Big Smooth" Perkins.

Had never heard of Bill Mlkvy but that's fantastic. My favourite in any sport (in this case baseball) was Doug "Eyechart" Gwosdz.

Best nickname pair:

John "Hot Rod" Williams
John "Hot Plate" Williams

Both these guys started their NBA careers in 1986. One of them was fat. You can try to guess which one.

I mostly hate those derogatory in-joke nicknames and don't consider them real nicknames. But this one is different because there were two players with the same name and it became widely used to clarify which guy you were talking about. I believe the "Hot Plate" nickname for the LSU/Washington Bullets John Williams originated with NBA writer Peter Vecsey and it caught on from there.

My favorite isn't technically a nickname, but I've heard Ian Eagle exclaim "SHAMALAMADINGDONG" after a Landry Shamet 3.

does Harden like that nickname?

Which of course for team supersonics I would aslo add Durantula, Goatbrook and the Beard also but some people might object to that.
