On the one hand, I’m 100% anti-Elf like everyone else. He’s indisputably awful. On the other hand, we have pole position on home court advantage and have just won 11 outta 12. Kinda tough to argue with Thibs methods, and definitely doesn’t seem like the time to rock the boat.

Yeah I think there might be something to that theory about the opposing teams get adjusted to elfrid, then when a real NBA player comes in, it catches them off guard.

:o

That's f*cking BRILLIANT if that's the strategy. If not, it's "running with scissors" stupid.

That’s gotta be it. Thibs is using psychological tactic here, next level coaching that even PJax could only dream of. Ballsy and quite honestly, a genius move.

I'll starting calling Payton "the scent". He's meant to throw the dogs off the trail.

He's so surprised yet does nothing but complain all game during a continuous dialogue with the refs.

Apparently he has 15 technicals. Wow. Dude must love the sound of his own voice. Dallas is a circus though. He probably gets a bonus for that nonsense.
I dunno.

Or it could just be the simple boring consequence of a little stability/consistency. He’s got these guys so locked into their roles that they can just focus on doing what they do. Even when what Payton does is bad, his teammates are used to it and maybe that helps them just settle into an elevated rhythm of heightened responsibility. Like Reggie and RJ should have no hesitation on the spot up 3 because they know 100% that Elf sure as sh*t won’t make it. Maybe it makes it easier for Randle to know that he better focus and make that step back 20-foot fade because a double is coming and the strong side corner outlet is useless. I mean he’s done it a hundred times by now.

The one thing Payton does well is exude irrational confidence. I really think if Frank just had a little consistent swagger, he’d be out there starting.

Least favorable match up in my opinion.

We played em tight and we weren't as good then. I'm good with it. Let's get back to whooping that Heat ass like it's 1999.

I think Randle likes playing with Elf. The played in NOLA together too and thrived.

Except you might want to re-load tankathon to check out Dallas over the final month :)

Imagine if D-Rose had Elf as his starting pg and him being back-up in his early years. He would have been the Goat by a solid margin.

Guys are forced to play and look for each other (ball movement-wise) because the starting pg is a non-factor. Kind of a sneaky way to train the team hahaha.
