Thibs wants a pg in the pg spot so that means no Frank, IQ or Burks. Going 12-1 only reinforces that.

Like if it looks like we’re about to lose the rest of this road trip or something. There has to be something going on behind the scenes that keeps Payton from being bench cuz Thibs clearly sees that he’s hurting the team by his reduction of minutes. Maybe Payton is a malcontent and they worry about him messing up the lock room chemistry? Not even Thibs is stubborn enough to keep playing someone that’s hurting winning to be proven right about something if there wasn’t some sort of extenuating circumstances.
Yeah I just think its been timing. Rose went out with COVID so they wanted to ease him back (because when Payton went down Rose and the starters were playing great).
Then Burks went out and kinda forced Thibs again to stick with Payton.
We also are 11-1 in our last 12 and while payton hasn't done anything to help us in that stretch. I think Thibs just likes consistency of rotations.
The think like you said that will be interesting...if we do falter at all during this west coast trip and Burks is back playing minutes...it will be hard to continue to start Payton especially if we start losing games to good teams and he continues to prove he is our weak link.
This probably makes way more sense than my idea of behind the scenes forces keeping him in the line up. I feel like Payton’s minutes were trending down too right before Rose got sick too. Usually coaches don’t change their starting line ups for no reason either. Much bigger moral hit to make a move on Payton now cuz we’re dominating. I’m a little afraid that Noel could be out for a big part of this road trip might keep a built in excuse in case we start losing

He’s going to be an all-time great when it’s all said and done if his rapid development continues!!!!!!!
Probably my favorite shot he’s hit in the past month. That’s the next step in his development. I think like 98 or 99% of his threes are on catch and shoot. If he’s starts hitting threes off the dribble, it really raises the ceiling on his potential. Especially if he’s going to be able to keep up these percentages. Off the dribble three point shooter at 40% are stuff that superstars do.
Give it time, the off-the-bounce 3s are coming, as is the finishing at the rim and expansion of his playmaking.

Lakes are in some turmoil right now. With Schroeder out and Kuzma pining for more Gasol over Drummond, they might be disorganized enough to drop a couple of games.

I like our chances against Memphis, SA & in that early-Sunday game against the Clippers. Plus I wouldn't be shocked if we balled out against the Suns after the way that last game ended, & the Lakers are stumbling.
Denver is really the only game on this trip that I don't feel good about at all.

OMFG. Kyrie Irvie is Kyrect -- the Earth is flat, and it has turned upside down. Maybe this is the end of everything as we know it - a lifetime devoted to mourning my beloved Knicks, only to see they have come back from the dead.Their style of play is very similar to what they had when they won in '70 and '73.
Yeah, it must be the end of the universe.

everyone has raised their level of play, including obi, yet payton has gotten worse!
If you do a graph of Elf's minutes vs. the date, it's almost a straight line headed to zero at the start of the playoffs. LOL

Barrett squaring up like that and shooting off the dribble will turn him into an All-NBA player. Calling it now.

cgf wrote:It's a combination of trying to keep IQ on the bench while he improves his consistency, trying to balance the 1st & 2nd units so our bench can extend leads, and Thibs' trying to compensate for the talent deficit we'd have in the starting lineup either way, by letting our best defensive lineup start things off...plus with the shooting we're getting from Julius, RJ & Reggie, Elf's shot isn't as crippling & his penetration gives our offense multiple ways to put pressure on a defense.
It's just a shame that Elf can't shoot, finish or pass.
Other than that, though....

I dunno
I don’t think Shroder is all that good and if the lakers just make Lebron play heavy PG minutes they’ll win more
