All of this hand wringing by the media, and some here, that we haven't provided enough "weapons" for Rodgers.
The last year under MM we scored 376 points. The first year under MLF we scored..... 376 points. Well damn. Let's get Rodgers some more weapons. This past season, the one where we didn't go out and get Rodgers any weapons, we led the league with 509 points. Hmmmm, maybe the new offense IS the new weapon.

Re: 2021 Packers Off Season - Rodgers Wants Gute Canned
I was on a beach for four days, unplugged, and come back to this sh*tstorm? The only surprising news here is that it took so long to go public. As someone who has been, and will pretty much always be, "Team Aaron" this is all just so predictable, fitting, unforgivable, and sickening. Plainly, this organization doesn't deserve Aaron Rodgers. And it has nothing to do with the "weapons" narrative either. At 36 years old, your once-in-a-lifetime QB tells you he wants to play into his 40's and you immediately go out and trade up for a QB without alerting him? Piss poor.
Yes, Rodgers had a down year. Yes, he was missing some throws he usually made. But the arm strength was obviously still there. The mobility was obviously still there. The knack for extending the play was obviously still there. He had a down year in a stale offense and then another down year in the first year of a brand new offense. Down years, mind you, that most quarterbacks would gladly take in their primes.
So what does Aaron do? Watches tape, identifies the problem, strengthens his lower body, works on his footwork, has a brilliant year, wins MOST VALUABLE PLAYER, and you don't do everything in your power to show him he's your guy? So what if you traded up for Jordan Love? GM's make mistakes all the time. Just don't let it get out of hand. Admit you were wrong, recoup some value by trading Love for a 3rd or 4th rounder, and get back to chasing Super Bowls. This is so utterly asinine and amateurish I can't even comprehend how multiple decision makers let it get to this point. Just a complete disaster and failure by guys who get paid huge sums of money to, at the very least, make sound decisions with HOF talent. Disgraceful.

To piggyback on that, the last year under MM we allowed 400 points, the first year under MLF we allowed 316 points. Nice, the defense got better and we won 13 games despite the offense scoring the same points as the year before. Last season we regressed and gave up 359. We still won 13 because of the big improvement in the offense. And then we got a new DC and first round CB (jury out on both of course).
If I'm Rodgers I'd be pretty damn happy with the state of the team right now. Not every move works out, FOR EVERY TEAM. But it seems as if this is all about Rodgers not being brought into the inner circle and consulted on moves. Too bad, what we are doing is working and his hurt feelings can get bent.

In fairness Brady went over BB head and got Jimmy G traded so there is thattski1972 wrote:Ron Swanson wrote:Is Tom Brady gonna pout because Tampa took Kyle Trask in the 2nd round? Did he put the Patriots FO on blast when they drafted Jimmy G in the 2nd round way back in 2014? Or was/is the expectation simply that he'll be a professional about it?
If this is basically all about us drafting Jordan Love and not "informing" Aaron of it ahead of time, then this makes him look even more immature and selfish. As if we had told him about it ahead of time, he'd just be ok with it? GM's have an obligation to always do what's best for the team, in both the short and long term.
Can’t really compare drafting two QB’s at the end of the second round to trading up in the first for one.

But why not? You are either bringing in a back up or a successor every time you obtain a QB. What is the difference where they were drafted? It's all about the intent as far as I can see.
It matters because drafting the successor in the 2nd means you most likely got a more impactful pick in the first.
That argument doesn't really resonate with me at all. If you took a QB in the third, that would mean you have a more impactful pick in the second. If you draft them in the fourth, you'd have a more impactful player in the third.
In the end, you have the chance to draft a guy you believe is a franchise qb you take him, as far as I am concerned. What happens from there is up to professional football players and coaches to deal with, ideally, as professionals. I think I would be more understanding had Rodgers come in to the league under any other circumstance, but he has literally become the monster he hated.

Again, why does it matter? You're taking one of your first two picks that could in theory give you "immediate impact", and spending it on a guy who's gonna be the future successor at QB. And that's not even getting into the idea that you have nearly just as much a chance on hitting on certain skill position players in the 2nd round (49% for WR) as you do in the 1st round (57%).

AJ Hawk saying he thinks there’s 0% chance Rodgers retires and he also doesn’t believe that Rodgers is saying Gutey needs to be fired.

So if that's what the final straw was do people still want to argue he should be included in team building decisions?RiotPunch wrote:

This is where the QB’s trust in his receivers comes into play. If it’s between Equanimeous and Kumerow and Rodgers likes Kumerow you’d think the GM would want that kinda of input. Good grief, it’s the fifth receiver we’re talking about.

Yes, the QB shouldn't have franchise divorce response to a 5th WR on the roster. I mean come on people, you can certainly be mad at Gute for not handling things better, but Rodgers has now cemented himself as a bigger diva than Favre. That should bother people, because Favre seemed to think the NFL would cease to exist when he was done playing.
I actually think the origins of this was cutting Jordy Nelson, I think Gute did it because he saw that Rodgers was too focused on his safe throws and maybe that was holding back the offense. I could be wrong, but if I had to pick a start, it was there.

I'm pretty sure Hawk was with him this weekend so probably a decent source.StickeeFingaz wrote:AJ Hawk saying he thinks there’s 0% chance Rodgers retires and he also doesn’t believe that Rodgers is saying Gutey needs to be fired.
I said it this weekend but I think this is basically a public shaming Rodgers is doing through the media. Hell likely keep this up until camp but ultimately show up for 1 more run. Then he'll absolutely be traded next winter.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Which is almost always held by either a developmental guy or a specialist like a returner. Anyone wanna argue they viewed Kumerow as a high upside player?
I mean of Jordy leaving was the last straw then I guess there's something to go off of. Jake **** Kumerow though?

Next report will be about how Rodgers wanted shampoo from Kiehls in the locker room but it’s still Herbal Essence in there.
