Don't get me wrong, I TOTALLY get it and actually want the magic to do more of it but man this is just bad for the product. It's flat out disgusting. Again, not hating on your tank because I get it. I just wish the system didn't reward this type of losing.

Jeez, I thought the Pistons would beat them even with a "healthy" Magic squad. With all the guys they're sitting, the Pistons might beat them by 30. Eh whatever, this was an auto win either way.

In any event, the Pistons should just shut down Grant, Plumlee and Joseph at this point. There's literally no point to playing any of them. Just let the young guys finish it out.

Edit: Actually, it looks like the same Magic team that won the last game so maybe a glimmer of hope? Eh, who am I kidding. Pistons ain't losing this one.

Magic's lineup for tonight's game:
Carter/Bamba
Wagner
Bacon/Brazdeikis (who just signed a 10-day)
Harris/Hampton
Anthony/Randle

I figured our rookie squad was favored even if Ross, Isaac, Fultz were playing.

Don’t let the fact that we’re currently 2nd from the bottom fool you.

We’ve got an uphill battle to finish better than 5th. I’d say 6 was likely but the Wolves started playing better. 6 is still possible though, especially if we beat them.

+1. I'm still not convinced Snakes isn't the devil, making sure Pistons fans worry until their brain explodes.

Pistons are going to lose this game and create major separation between everyone else for 2md worse record!

Lol. Got an issue? Take it up with reality. 2 wins currently separate 2 from 6 and we play 2 of the other teams within that range.

If you’re not worried there are 3 possibilities:

1) You aren’t paying close attention

2) You don’t care about where we pick

3) You have a healthy life balance with the right perspective and priorities where you don’t put undue emphasis on the fate of the local sports team.

I’ll admit when the team was good number 3 didn’t apply to me even in the slightest. I’d get way too caught up. Part of that was immaturity. Now that we’ve been bad for all but the very beginning of my adult life, this stuff riles me up a lot less.

Next game for the Thunder is against Kings at OKC. SAC will be without both Fox and Haliburton. Not sure it can stop Thunder's tank but it can help at least.

I'll be very happy if we end up in a three way tie for second worst. I'll be OK with ending up with the fourth worst record. Fifth is a real possibility but I'm hoping we stay below it. Sixth worse would be a big disappointment at this point.

I'm still hunting for that healthy life balance thing.

Hoping for a poor shooting night from Bey.

Foul trouble for Stewart.

Frank Jackson goes 2-14.

Moe and Cole Anthony lead the Magic to a victory tonight imo

Was just browsing some Pistons content especially with tonight being a big tank night and came upon this on another message board and found it really interesting...

Some Nuggets from JLE3 on the bun & cardigan POD today....

Disclaimer: James has a way of basically reporting stuff without reporting it, a wink wink, read between the lines kind of deal where he qualifies statements with stuff like "This isn’t me reporting anything, but just my general feeling I get….", or "It’s just a feeling I get from talking to people around the league" so here’s stuff he said…

1.Basically we want a 20 a night , bucket getter this draft so Pistons like Jalen Green over Mobley from what he gathers, so if they get #2 , he thinks the pick is actually Jalen.
2. Cade is their no.1, then a gap Green,Mobley then Suggs gap others
3. A continuation of point 1, If we fall out of the top 4 the pick is Bouknight
4. Frank the anti-tank is here to stay, his dad is from Maryland and is close with Troy Weaver, so Frank will have us on his door step at 12:01 when free agency opens
5. We’re leaning hard into the tank down the stretch, we won’t see Jerami or Plums the rest of the year
6. To add to point 5, if we win like 2 more games, we might even see Saddiq and Stew get sat certain nights
7. If we get Cade or Green this draft, we aren’t tanking next year. Not going to go out and sign some impact vets , but not outworldly going for the best draft odds and letting the kids push for the play in.
8. If point 7 doesn’t come to pass, looks like we take Bouknight and tank again next year

I'm assuming that "JLE3" is James Edwards III who is pretty connected I believe. I guess we'll find out soon if there's any truth to this if we see Grant or Plumlee play again this season.

I'll just say, I really hope 1-6 is true although not the biggest Bouknight fan but just the fact that they recognize the need for a high level scorer.

Anyway, just some food for thought and since this is the unoffical tank thread, I figured this was the best place for it.

Our only concern for the rest of these games is playing teams who are in the 2nd night of a b2b

We have several of them remaining on the schedule:

Grizzlies
76ers
Nuggets
Heat

4 out of the 7 remaining games are against teams on a b2b

Yes, “JLE3” is James L. Edwards III from The Athletic. I listened to the latest “The Bun & Cardigan Show,” which is his podcast with Nick Henkel and can confirm that the recap above was pretty much on point as to what JLE said.

By the way, I recommend that podcast to everyone. A fun, easy listen with good info.

Mate I couldn’t agree with you anymore. While we’ve tanked Casey will still play guys going for the win when we are close late in games and other teams have shown they will go much further with their tank willing to pretty much deliberately play their team to lose late ensuring they get better odds for their lottery. Seeing us lose to the magic was nice, but we still do need to worry that we will come on stronger he last few games and lose 1-2 spots in our draft order

Updated Standings as of the morning of May 4th. The regular season ends in just 13 more days on Sunday May 16th. Everyone has just 7 games remaining except for Cleveland which has 8 games left.

1. Houston 16-49 (.246)
2. Detroit 19-46 (.292)
3. Minnesota 20-25 (.308)
4T. OKC 21-44 (.323)
4T. Orland 21-44 (.323)
6. Cleveland 21-43 (.328)

Tonight's games.
Cavs play against the #1 team in the league, the Suns. Loss #44 seems certain.
Detroit plays against the Hornets, who are fighting to keep in the 7/8 position of play-in games ahead of Indy/Washington.
The Thunder play against the Kings, certainly a winnable game for them as Sacramento is out of the playoff picture.

Cavs will be without Garland for this game. Prince, Nance and Dellavedova are also out for season.
Kings will be without both Fox and Haliburton, and certainly without Barnes. That can help Thunder lose by 30 instead of 60...
Hornets will be without Graham, Hayward and Cody Martin against us. Our lineup is yet to be confirmed.
