Which HC jobs open up this offseason?
Was wondering how many HC openings there could be this offseason. Pondered a few scenarios ..
ATL - I imagine they hold onto McMillan but stranger things have happened.
WAS - Maybe. Although Brooks is probably safe after their recent surge/good rapport with their star player from the OKC days.
CLE - Not saying Bickerstaff should be fired, but it wouldn't surprise me if they move in another direction.
ORL - Is Clifford ready for the rebuild?
DET - Same as above.
POR - I like Stotts but I could see them moving on him.
SAC - Kinda surprised this hasn't happened yet.
Are there any unlikely openings?
BOS - If you believe the team has semi-checked out on a good coach, wouldn't be the first time it's happened.
MIL - If they falter again. Shiii, they're not trading Giannis.
SAS - Pop walk away?
Thoughts?

Sacramento definitely. Walton underachieved with that roster, even with Fox playing borderline All-Star levels.

If portland gets waxed in the first round (which is what i'm expecting), i think Stotts is out. Blazers have been stuck in the same spot for a while and coach is the first thing they change.
Sacramento is guaranteed, they shouldn't be this bad.
Bud is also a strong candidate if they lose in the second round
I think the others are safe since they are mostly tanking.

Well I know Brad Stevens wife called about the UNC opening, so I am going to go with him if the Celtics lose first round (or get eliminated in the play in).

Can we change it to vote for multiple?
POR, SAC are almost guaranteed to make changes. ATL already did and McMillan has indicated he's not sure if he wants to HC again so soon.
WAS was a lock until their recent tear.

Should allow 3 now. That good or do you want to see more blood than that?
ETA: And McMillan's unclear future in ATL was sort of the genesis for this. I was wondering what other options he'd have if he didn't want to stay on in Atlanta.

Gracias.
I think Stotts is as good as gone. Depending on what Olshey can swing this offseason, it could be a very desirable position for a vet HC who's ready for the next thing if a Carlisle or Stevens really do want to move on (purely based on posts above).

Lol Brad Stevens isn't going anywhere ya bunch of weirdos. His team has been to the ECFs 3 times in 4 years, he just signed an extension with the C's, and he did not even consider his previous dream job at Indiana when it opened up.

Milwaukee. Surprised it isn't a poll option.
The only thing preventing Budenholzer getting fired is a Finals appearance. Not conference finals- he will be canned.
Finals or bust.

Cavaliers firing Bickerstaff is always a possibility if Dan Gilbert is still running the show like he used to (which is no sure thing post-stroke). There are of course plenty of extenuating circumstances, but one of his business mantras goes something like if you're not getting better, you're getting worse. The Cavs hoped to challenge for the eight seed and instead they're nosediving.

Van Gundy will almost certainly be on the chopping block if the Flamingos know what's good for them.

Don't tell anybody in Louisiana, but I always refer to them as the PeliCan'ts behind their backs.
And I think it's too soon in the process on VGundy. It doesn't look good to me either, but Griffin probably ain't gonna punt on a guy he just hired.

I really want to see a D'antoni-coached Portland.

Side effect of being the 4th longest tenured coach is that the GM hasn't used the coaching replacement "get out of jail free" card.
If the Blazers lose the play-in or non-competitively in the first round after bringing in Covington, Powell, Kanter, and Jones, Olshey will definitely make Stotts the scapegoat. No pressure, Dame!

I've never understood the camp of Dallas fans who hate Carlisle. I understand not agreeing with some of his decisions but: Carlisle pretty much guarantees you an overachieving bench, and in the playoffs his adaptability is second to none. Carlisle out-adjusts everyone in the playoffs. I'll never forget 2014, when Dallas almost beat San Antonio (who decimated everyone that year) with 35 year old Dirk and Monta Ellis. He then got joke level squads (built around Dirk's final years) to the playoffs for 2 more years before Dallas completely bottomed out for a bit. Him and Doncic are going to be a dangerous playoff duo for the next many years, so enjoy it!
Like you really want them to move on from Carlisle and hire...who? Carlisle is a top 5 coach. The moment he leaves Dallas, half the teams in the league are going to offer him the biggest contract possible.

Then why was his wife calling UNC over the last 2 months. The same time that he turned down the Indiana offer???
