He’s been playing at an MVP level since the recent braid style, but most of the season he’s been playing at an AllStar level. If he continues to hit F U shots in the playoffs his status will definitely go higher. On defense he’s a little limited because he can’t jump and doesn’t have good size or length, but he moves his feet well and has a good motor.

MIP should be a lock.

Statistically, his production hasn't been even close to MVP-level, so no. MIP easily though.

I'm happy for Randall. He's a Laker for life.

The Knicks are a 4th seed. He has very little in supporting cast. Toronto arguably has better players on paper but Randle is doing everything possible.

There’s literally two threads on the same page from your fellow Knicks fans about Derrick Rose deserved 6th man consideration and how’s Knicks playing better with him

I really dislike when people try to diminish impact of all teammates to prop their favorite player, it’s a team effort , and don’t forget Thibodeau also .

1. Randle is not my favorite player.

2. D Rose will not win the 6th man but even if he did how does that even compare to supporting cast like other MVP guys have right now?

3. Thibs is huge. Nobody is forgetting him but why can't Thibs be huge and Randle also be a MVP candidate?
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

I'm not arguing with you about whether Randle deserve to be a MVP candidates or not. It's how you diminish his teammates impact to make your case

"He has very little in supporting cast" , "is literally carrying the Knicks on his back" , "is doing everything possible"

That's your statement and definitely sounds like you're trying to give all the credits to Randle. There's no doubt Randle is the best player for Knicks, but then the main reason Knicks performing well this year was because of their defense , they were ranked 23rd last season in defensive rating, they ranked 4th this season.

He'll get some top 5 votes but i think the top 5 will end up being Jokic, Curry, Embiid, Giannis and Luke/Dame

I think he might get some points. He deserves a little bit of consideration for the amount of work he's done this year.
Transformed his game completely.

No shot at MVP but I'd say almost a lock for MIP

Jokić
Embiid
Paul
Curry
Gobert
Antetokounmpo
Dončić
Lillard
Randle
Leonard
Booker
Irving
Butler
Mitchell
Tatum
James
Harden

There's a pretty big gap between Jokić and everyone else. The usual suspects - Durant, Leonard, James, Harden all missed to much time to be serious candidates, and some of the rest aren't playing on title contenders.

on merit absolutely. i just don't see too many people giving him their 1st place vote after 2 years. it's someone else's turn.

Agree Giannis not likely to get many #1 votes, but hard to not having him on the ticket. Not like Randall will get serious #1 vote either, so I think Giannis will rank ahead of Randall. Hard to ignore his past two games against KD. I have no problem seeing Randall ranking top 5 at the end.

Classic RealGM “fly from one end of the spectrum to another overnight” take.

Yes, I am saying he might not make one. You think the voters are good at this stuff?

Some are, some aren't, but the factors that usually cause them to screw up aren't working against Randle...small market, a bigger named team-mate, doing it on a team that isn't good, etc...and it's already a common topic of conversation wrt to Julius; even opposing team's announcers discuss it in more games than not.

Plus with the MIP, he's already going to be on voters' minds...even if there isn't a significant push by the NY media for Julius to make an all-NBA team...so them leaving Randle off of all 3 teams would be genuinely surprising at this point; especially if we hold onto that 4th seed ahead of Miami, Boston & Atlanta.

The big thing working against him is reputation. Giannis and Zion will make it on merit, but then voters might start throwing votes at LeBron, Durant and Kawhi. If those three make it then Randle is fighting for the last slot with Butler, Tatum, and George, all who have previously been All-NBA and are “bigger names”. Not saying it’s right, but it’s how voting often goes.

Honestly, I'm not surprised on RealGM he gets zero love.

What I am surprised is how quiet the media has been regarding his MVP hype. It's like no one wants to give the Knicks best player credit. Goes to show you it's not all about the market that gets you recognition, which is the narrative you hear nonstop on here. Giannis has 2 to his name while playing in the middle of nowhere and Jokic is getting a ton of love despite playing in Denver as well.

That is fair. Just think he should be a factor in the conversation. I do not expect him to win.
