Literally every year dating back to 2003, nearly 20 years now, there's been an all star caliber player taken between picks 7 and 13. We'll have our choice of that range of prospects, and after seeing Chuma and Cole develop so quickly I'm liking our chances better at picking the right one.

From 2003 to 2020 total of 119 players were drafted in that range.
2004 Igoudala, Deng
2005 Bynum
2006 -
2007 Noah
2008 Brook Lopez
2009 Curry, Derozan
2010 Hayward, George
2011 Kemba Klay
2012 Drummond, Lillard
2013 -
2014 Randle, Lavine
2015 Booker
2016 Sabonis
2017 Mitchell
2018 -
2019 -
2020 -

19 out of 119 players meaning you have, at average ,11% chance for allstar. However, take this term "allstar" very loosly because it just means player showed up for allstar game once. Drummond, Deng, Lopez, Noah, Sabonis, Bynum, Igoudala were never "stars" nor ever lead their teams anywhere.
Most experts, however, belive that "soft tank" is best tank, so guys like Curry, George, Mitchell, Lillard are not brought to apsolute disasters of a team and that allowed them to develop in competitive enviroment and become better players faster and reach their max potential.

Bulls pick isn't safe bet, there is around 2/3 chance of keeping it and 1/3 of losing it. And because draft isn't deep enough and it's very easy to predict that no Michael Porter Jr type will be falling from grace from projected 1# to 8th , it's hard to look at some Jaden Springer, Isaiah Jackson or Wagner and be crazy exited, at least to me.

I don't care if we lose that pick this year. It will be very hard task to play all those young players next year anyway. With returning Isaac and Fultz, and adding own rookie, adding some veteran leadership, PT for most young players compared to this year will go down. Especially Cole, and if we draft SG , Hampton is in that case, third stringer already.

Today's tankathon pull:
Orlando 1 :D
Chicago 7 :D

Only effort and got the perfect roll !

....

Orlando sits tied at #5/#6 with Cleveland.
Orlando is a 1/2 game better than #4OKC
Orlando is 5 worse better than #7 Chicago
(Yes the Bulls are catching the Magic in the losses column)

Chicago sits at #7
Chicago is 1/2 game worse better than #8 Toronto
Chicago is 4 games out of a play-in slot

My one roll of the day: Orlando 9th, Chicago 1st (Memphis at 2 and New Orleans at 3 both jumped us, too). Not making this up.

I swear I have the worst luck with rng-devices, going back to playing board games as a kid lol. Thank god I'll be nowhere near the actual lottery.

The purest Magic thing to happen right now would be that the Bulls get a top 4 pick, while we're dropping to 8. At this point I'm more afraid of the lottery outcome than excited.

But if the luck is on our side for once, then for sure this is a sweet pick which I'm absolutely excited for.

Trading out of the top 5? Which team would? The drop off after the top 5 is pretty significant.

No one is trading out of the top 5. People are fooling themselves off they think so.

I never proposed that someone is trading out of the top 5. Or I am misunderstanding the quote of my post.

I was just saying, that I'm in fear the Bulls get lucky at lottery night and jump into the top4 so they keep their pick, while we're dropping down number 8 with our own. This is nightmare material.

But a team might trade #4 and future assets for #2. I am thus kind of hoping Orlando is at 2, and makes that trade to team#4 where Mobley would be sent for the rights of Green. Beyond wining the draft for Cunningham, that would be my preferred outcome.

And Chicago at 7 with Moody being selected.

This front office doesn't trade picks. I think they just try to get the best player available wherever they end up.

If all the tankers lose out...what’s the tiebreaker (presently w/CLE)?

I think they flip a coin. Plus Minnesota will win at least 2 or 3 more. They still play us and Detroit.

I thought there was a series of tie-breakers...head to head, conference...mostly asking (if true) what’s the status presently?

Or, is it just a coin toss?

The only tiebreaker for the lottery is the coin toss.

The Doncic draft we had to lose the last game to secure a tie with Memphis and Dallas. We played Washington and they needed the win, but they came out flat.

I agree. Those trades almost never happen. In last few yeras we only saw Dallas trading up ( unprotected pick given) to move 1 slot.
76ers moved up in 2017 and still didn't menaged to f*** it up picking Fultz and trading rights for pick that turned into Tatum

There is no TB for the lottery. If multiple teams finish with the same record, the odds get added up and split evenly amongst the tied teams. In case of an odd number of balls, a coin is flipped to determine who gets the extra lottery ball.
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.
