Lowry to Philly; Turner to T.O., Curry to Utah, Favors to Indy

Post#1 » by Bentley1225 » Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:54 pm

Based on reports that Sixers remain highly interested in Lowry, Toronto needs a start 5, the Jazz thrive on shooting the 3 and the Pacers perhaps want to create more flexibility, ill offer this idea:

To Philadelphia (Trade Hill, Curry, protected 1st)
-Kyle Lowry (S&T: 3 years, $54-60 million)

To Toronto (S&T Lowry)
-Myles Turner (2 years, $36 million)
-2022 Miami 2nd
-2024 Indy 2nd

To Utah (Trade Favors)
-Seth Curry (2 years, $17.6 million)

To Indiana (Trade Turner, 2nds)
-Derrick Favors (1 year, $9.8 million plus P.O.)
-George Hill (1 year, $10 million)
-2022 Philly 1st (1-20 protected; 2023 1-20 protected or extinguished)

Why?
-Sixers land Lowry while keeping existing starting core/rookie contract guys
-Raps land a starting big that aligns with existing core both positionally and age wise
-Utah adds Curry as another shooter off bench as they promote Azuibuike to backup Rudy
-Indiana flips Turner for Favors as he can split time (20-25 mpg) with Bitadze, adding Hill as backcourt depth and 2 2nd round picks

This is terrrrrible for pacers. They don't need a 3rd center with no range

Raptors making out like bandits here.

Indiana would likely prefer less incoming salary and more pick compensation.

Sending out Turner, Miami 2022 second and Indiana 2024 second for Favors, Hill and a Philadelphia first is bad value for the Pacers.

lol at Toronto getting Myles Turner for free and somehow receiving two 2nds in the process.

I don't feel I'm exaggerating when I say this is one of the ~10 worst trades I've ever seen on here

I feel like we always overrate how much can come back in a sign and trade.

Something that may mean nothing but is notable nonetheless - Jimmy Butler got back Josh Richardson in a sign and trade. The next year Richardson and a 2nd brought back Seth Curry. Now we're talking about Curry AND Hill AND a 1st to get back a player who's older and not as good as Butler.

So Myles Turner is worth more than the sign and trade rights to Lowry? Don't think so.

Has there ever been so much anticipation for a great trade return, on a 36 year old, non-allstar, Unrestricted free agent.

I don’t love Indy getting terrible here for no incentive, while also getting more expensive. There’s even a very outside chance the pick never conveys

Pretty rough for Indy, just giving away Turner.

Tilted for Utah, but we are not trading Favors, nor do we need Curry.

Sure, I certainly overvaluated Lowry from a S&T perspective and underevaluated Turner.

If you cut out Indy, and provide correct value for Lowry something like:

To Toronto
-Derrick Favors
-George Hill
-2023 Philly 2nd
-2025 Utah 2nd

To Philly
-S&T Lowry

To Utah
-Curry

Value seems right. Think you should just cut Utah out, though - I don't see why we'd want to trade for Curry and I also can't imagine us trading Favors. With Lowry outgoing Curry makes some sense for Toronto. If they don't think so, they can figure it out at the deadline.

Yeah, Favors chose to come back to Utah as a backup C when he could have gone elsewhere as a starter. Utah will never trade him unless it's by his choice, and Derrick Favors isn't a grass is greener kind of guy. He feels at home in Utah, which is why he came back at the first chance he got. Guys like Favors and Ingles will be shown the same kind of loyalty that they have had for the team.

Would rather let Lowry walk, Hill isn't needed with Bembry, Flynn, Trent Jr, VanVleet and possibly another guard at #9. Favors is okay but nothing special especially to a rebuilding team. Those picks aren't going to be anything to help with the immediate rebuild
