If Ray can keep his BB rate down like this he’s an all-star caliber pitcher.
Despite these early injuries we now have Pearson returning shortly after than dominant outing in Buffalo, we actually might find the SP’s are a huge team strength pretty soon.
Edit: I didn’t realize that Ray has now gone 3 straight starts of 6+ innings and hasn’t allowed a single walk in any of them. 23K, 0BB. Wow.

Hope we can get the split, though winning two in a row would be tough against the As. Unfortunate we couldn't nab one of the first 2 games

Even ignoring the part where Ryu is pitching for us today, the A’s aren’t actually a particularly strong team, they have an inflated record with a lot of close wins.
They’ve been outscored on the season (-7). The Jays are +24 which is 2nd behind the White Sox at +36. I will be surprised if the A’s make the playoffs.

Afternoon start for those working 9 to 5 your SOL.
My days off are Thursday & Sundays by design. (I get to self schedule my hours)
So this works out for me today, gonna mow the lawn then perhaps watch the game.
But I *swear* every time I try to watch we start losing so I've not been watching.
Makes me sad.

When Tellez was terrible early in the season, Montoya still gave him every start against RHP, now that he’s hitting much better he cant even get AB’s ahead of Panik and Davis.

Oh, the reasoning behind that is easy to explain, actually.
Montoya. That's it. That's the reason.

It pains me to see Davis get playing time when we have Espinal and Tellez.

I guess it was to give Grichuk a rest from CF but why not do that against a LHP instead? Then Davis would even make more sense.

that was terrible. vladdy strikes out and Bo gets picked off.

Who is this impostor and what has he done with Randal Grichuk?
Also, if Cavan can start making good contact on dead centre fastballs - like he did just there - that would be grand. Pretty frustrating watching him swing and miss at meatballs down the middle - or even worse, watch them pass by for strike 3.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Grichuk continues to be the surprise of the season. Lowest isolated power since his rookie year, that dinger notwithstanding, and his best wOBA since he was a rookie. He has somehow transformed himself from one of the highest-K players in MLB as of a few years ago into someone who strikes out less than 72% of MLB hitters.
Baseball, as always? Weird.

Nice that his hard contact is finally paying off. More of that, please.
