Every team needs a plan b,c,d,etc. And at center we have no other plan.

Agreed. People were upset that TT was starting or getting minutes over Williams but clearly there was a reason for that. Seems like Williams only has a certain amount of minutes a year and if he goes over that he starts to break.

That was the situation with Embiid for some years too.
I do suspect that Rob's core condition is more the root of this than admitted, however. If so, I hope it gets addressed in the offseason.

“Brad Stevens said Robert Williams is out tonight with turf toe. He’s meeting with specialists to see the best course of action. Stevens said Williams almost sat Wednesday. Isn’t sure what his availability will be over the next week. As Stevens said, turf toe lingers.”

So did they play him injured because TT was out?

Brad said that apparently you can play through this injury but it hurts a lot to do so.

I think he also said it would likely hurt more each time you play on that, so I take it that is aggravating it. And it apparently can lead to longterm damage:
"The injury involves tearing the capsule that surrounds the joint at the base of the toe, which I'm sure I don't need to tell you, is very painful. Furthermore, this tearing of the joint capsule can lead to instability and even dislocation of the joint at the base of the toe. Long-term damage may lead to accelerated cartilage wear and arthritis of the big toe.
TREATMENT OPTIONS:
Although the diagnosis of turf toe is fairly straightforward, it's a good idea to see a sports medicine orthopedic physician. He or she will probably order X-rays to rule out a fracture. Treatment of turf toe typically involves the old standby: RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation). Anti-inflammatory medications may also be recommended by your doctor. To heal properly, you'll probably need to stay on the sidelines for at least three weeks. "

FWIW, best case scenario with this sounds like Jrue Holiday and D-Rose had when they had this: they only missed 3 and 4 games, respectively
