This team & Howdy Doody are a losing investment.

Down 3 games in the loss column to the Knicks (we have the tiebreaker) AND down 2 games in the loss column to the Hawks (they have the tiebreaker) with 4 games to play makes the 4 or the 5 seed just about impossible.

If we somehow beat the Heat on Tuesday & do not for the umpteenth time embarrass ourselves on national TV, we still have a shot at the 6 seed - IF we win out & the Heat lose to either the Sixers or the Bucks OR if we win 2 out of 3 (Cavs & Wolves) & the Heat lose to the Sixers AND the Bucks. I expect the worst from this awful team. If we somehow miraculously get the 6 seed, then we have the honor of probably getting flattened by the Bucks or the Nets in Round 1.

If we lose to the Heat on Tuesday, we will finish as either the 7 or 8 seed depending on how we do VS the Cavs, Wolves & Knicks VS how the Hornets do VS the Pelicans tonight, & then the Nuggets, Clippers, Knicks & Wizards. Absent fans, 7 or 8 seed is irrelevant.

We would have a better shot at the 9 or 10 seed if the Wizards or Pacers were not 3 games behind us in the L column (we have BOTH tiebreakerS) with only 4 games to go.

Then we have a chance to lose to the Hornets in an elimination game & then lose to the Wizards or the Pacers in a second elimination game. I am confident that we will give it our best effort to lose both of those games. If not, we can grab the ‘prestigious’ 7 or 8 seed & probably get waxed by the Sixers, the Nets or the Bucks in Round 1.

Hooray!
This team **** sucks.

PS The only things I liked about today’s fiasco were Evan Fournier (a keeper) & Aaron Nesmith. Our not yet Super Star joined the party too late. Kemba & Smart were appalling for many reasons. Timelord sadly is made of glass. Pritch did not get any minutes. When JB returns, he will do some things well, commit multiple moronic TOs & take shots away from Evan.

If I am being totally honest with myself I no longer know what I want from this team going forward. There is a part of me I would prefer the 7 /8 seed lose and make the lottery I really just don't know Anymore
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

I did not enter my usual copy & paste update.
The team does not deserve it.
I just summarized the final week.

I had them as a 6th seed with 38 wins. I guess that's what happenes when I am optimistic lol.

At this point they'd be better off missing the playoffs and getting a lottery pick than losing in the first round.

Hopefully they'll miss the playoffs completely and get a better shot at a top pick.

Please lose every game. This season has been terrible for the nba. We knew it would be. No offseason. Covid. Injuries. All teams. Now, we had the most, but all teams. Like three years in a row now with astrix championship.

I thought I saw somewhere that they can't fall below the 10th seed now? So they have a minimum of 1, 2 or 5 postseason games depending on their seeding and results. The benefit of postseason games even though the more experienced players may just want the season to end already is that Pritchard and Nesmith can get at least some playoff experience, which is helpful.

Yeah, CHI can't pass us - they have too many losses already. Even WAS can only tie us for 10th at 37 losses. i'm not sure who has the tiebreaker, but it's probably moot since we'll win at least 1 game of the next 4 (or they'll lose another).

We are headed for 7 > 6 > 8 in likelihood.

A. We cannot finish 11.

B. The Wizards can only tie us & we have the tiebreaker.

C. The Pacers can only pass us if we lose 4 & they win 4 - because we have the tiebreaker. That is not happening.

D. Looking upwards, passing the Hawks or Knicks is ‘almost impossible’ now.

E. We still have a shot at the 6 seed if we beat the Heat tonight, & then, because we would have the tiebreaker, we either win our last 3 while they lose to let’s say the Sixers, or we win 2 of our last 3 (Cavs & Wolves) while they lose to let’s say the Sixers AND the Bucks.
Of course the 6 seed most likely gets us smashed by the Nets or the Bucks in Round 1.
If we lose to the Heat tonight, the 6 seed is no longer possible.

F. Whether we fall further back to the 8 seed (which, without fans, is more or less irrelevant) depends on how we do VS the Heat/Cavs/Wolves/Knicks VS how the Hornets do VS the Nuggets/Clippers/Knicks/Wizards (very tough path).
If we split our final 4 games, we get the 7 seed because the Hornets can only tie us & we have the tiebreaker.

G. Given the gross inconsistency of this team & w/o JB & TL, we will have a tough time with any of the Hornets, Pacers or Wizards in either of the 2 potential Play In games. If Beal returns, the red hot Wizards could possibly pass the Pacers & Hornets, grab the 8 seed, & eat our lunch in the first Play In game.
And if we somehow survive the Play In & get either the 7 seed or the 8 seed, the Nets/Bucks or the Sixers are waiting to clock us in Round 1.

Sigh. :banghead:

Lose to 8th seed CHA as a 7th seed then lose to 9th seed WAS. That should be the expectation based on how we've played all season, injuries and all.

Who's good at 14th in the draft? Lol.

It just became very simple.

Since our putrid disgusting team owns the tiebreakers VS the Hornets/Pacers/Wizards, if we win one more game, we ‘clinch’ the 7 seed.

As bad as we are, that would be very hard not to do.

Then, as you wrote, we are very capable of losing first to the Hornets & then to the Pacers or the Wizards.

Pathetic.

Well I assume Kemba won't play tomorrow, neither will RWIII and obviously Brown.

Highly possible to lose to the Cavs, and the Timberwolves are riding a 2 game winning streak!

And you know Thibs will continue to ensure the Knicks play hard.

So right now just based off record we are 15th from the bottom, however the current 9th seed in the west grizzlies/warriors tied at 8/9 in the west are above us an one of those teams would be eliminated in the play in leaving the Celtics at the 16th pick as of right now if we got out of the play in.

If the Celtics lost the play-in in two teams beneath them in the east would rise above them dropping them to 13th. In addition if the Spurs somehow got out of the west play in they'd take the spot of lakers/warriors/grizzlie all who have a better record than the Celtics meaning the Celtics lottery position could be as good as 12th as things stand.

Of course things could still change. Technically the Pacers or hornets could still pass the C's if they win out, or the C's lose out. Or the c's could pass the west 8th seed warriors.

But basically if you're rooting for c's draft position you should root for the c's to lose the last three games to stay below the 9th seed in the west, root for the c's to lose their play in games and then root for the west 10 seed to make the playoffs.

The lottery odds are 12 are 6.2% at a top 4 pick.

Even if we stooped lower than rat feces (conceivable) & lost all 3 of our remaining games, and the Hornets & Pacers miraculously won all 3 of their remaining games & passed us, even if the Wizards won 2 of their 3 remaining games (assuming a L to the Hornets), they would finish behind us at 34-38 (& if they beat the Hornets & tied us at 35-37, we have the tiebreaker & the Hornets would also finish at 35-37 & we have the tiebreaker - so we would finish in front of both of them).

So what pick does the 9 seed in the EC get us? 13? 14?
Too complex to factor in the WC.
Is draft order based on W/L records before or after the Play In?

We should play to avoid Brooklyn. Last thing I need is to watch the 3 most disgusting 'stars' in this league tea bag us for 4 straight games. Hopefully we play the Bucks. I can stand being waxed by Giannis.

You are assuming we do not get double eliminated by the Hornets & then the Pacers or Wizards.
Given our current abysmal play, that is sadly possible (and well deserved).

Fire Casper Doody.
Fire Ainge.
Trade Smart.
Trade Jaylen for a quality big (sad necessity).
Sign Evan.
Purge the entire bench except Aaron & Payton.

Heads need to roll. I'm talking firings and a straight up fire sale for this team. Everyone not named the Jays, Nesmith, Evan and Pritchard can go. Rob I'm on the fence with. And that includes Stevens and Danny.

WEE NEED A CULTURE CHANGE

Return to Boston Celtics
