No, no he should not have. That's a move that basically would have precipitated an inevitable "Trade Me" call from Jayson Tatum.

Ainge maybe should have tossed 5 1sts to NOP to get Jrue for Kemba to move off his bum knee.

Ainge maybe should have used Jaylen and all those picks to get Harden.

But no, Ainge should not have traded Brown for a guy who is multiple years from helping make this team better.

Wiseman makes this team better right now, whereas Brown is replaceable. They've got Nesmith Langford and Fournier who play the same position. Wiseman over TT is a much bigger upgrade than Brown over Nesmith or Fournier.

Of course I'm assuming Golden Stater would do it, and they probably wouldn't. They know the value of a skilled 7-1 player.

Dear lord, no he does not. His injury and departure from the lineup in GSW directly precipitated the Warriors getting back in the playoff race. After a promising first month he has been a trainwreck for Golden State. Most big men suck their first year so I take that with a grain of salt, but there is a 0.0% chance he'd be contributing for this team.

Should we tank for the play in if Nets drop to 3rd?

Should've tanked. I've been saying it before the season began.

Well, I'm dead serious, I think the best case scenario for us is to get knocked out of the play in, and then have the basketball Gods smile on us in the lottery and get a top 4 pick. I am not interested in getting swept by Philly, BKN, or Milw and a worse pick.

Well we have two opponents who badly want/need to lose out of our final four games (CLE and MIN). Both are in a fight for the 2nd worst record so we probably finish up 2-2 with losses against Miami and the Knicks.

That's insane, but feels completely right (I know it, is indeed, actually, right).
I wonder what the percentage of top 6 available is even.

Celtics Offseason Thread

Post#176 » by Spin Move » Tue May 11, 2021 2:33 am

Ok Brown is out, the season is all but over, what should we do this off-season to avoid this years up and down season? Who do we sign? Who do we trade? Who do we draft (Drafting somewhere between 12 and 20 probably)? Who we we let go

I re-sign Fournier for no more then 25 million a year (preferably 20) he is a good wing and tradable.

I cut or Trade Tremont Waters and Carson edwards, neither are useful NBA players, Tack is fun but he and Semi can go to.
I am drafting a center or point guard, Maybe Kai Jones slips to us if we are close to 12 if we are 20 or later maybe Charles Bassey, Ayo Dosunmu seems like a Brad style PG if we are picking like 20, Josh GIddy is an interesting PG in more of the Lonzo ball mode...I have not done the draft research yet. If we resign even I see if I can use Romeo to trade up a bit, not sure he has much value though.

I think this season taught us a few things, Rob Williams is very talented but is too injury prone to rely on without a strong backup plan.
Healthy ish Kemba is not that bad In games he played 30 minutes or more he averaged, 20.4 pts 3.8 boards 5.1 assists, he has not fully rehabed his trade value enough to trade him this offseason but has been playing well the last few weeks his scoring, rebounding and assist numbers are all up post all star break, he just needs to be a good third wheel.

I think we had really bad health luck this year and that the long offseason will due us good....what would you do this offseason?

1. Part ways with Brad, hire James Posey and some real assistants.

2. Assuming we can’t move Kemba for anything worthwhile, resign Fournier for $20+ million and trade Jaylen for Sabonis, or Lonzo/Adams/1st, or some Hawks combo of a big and wing

3. Fire the entire training staff and replace them with celebrity chefs or clowns or I don’t know but I feel like our staff must just be clubbing our guys like baby seals or something WTF?

4. Draft well, again

5. Listen to offers on Smart and Thompson, but not expect to make any moves with either of them since they’ll both be playing for contracts next season and are two of our only dogs.

6. Don’t fill up this thread with thoughts about Edwards and Tremont and guys like that. I mean I’m very eager for Semi to be off the team but we have much bigger issues than our 11th — 15th guys.

I'm also in the camp of running it back but strengthening the center position.

It's probably OK to just call it "center". Anybody who'd be a better Grant Williams in terms of playing next to a center and defending the 4 so that the Jays aren't always needed to do that would, also like Grant, wind up being used as a smallball C at times too.

This draft prospect has a really interesting statistical profile Neemias Queta, 7'4 wingspan, likely 6'10 without shoes (listed at 7'0)
10 Boards, 3.3 blocks 1.1 steals and 2.7 assits a game are all solid numbers for a center just under 15 points a game.

Found measurements for him from 2019, he has supposedly gained 20 lbs since then so just under 6'11 and 245.
Height (w/shoes) - 7'0.25"
Height (w/o shoes) - 6'10.75"
Wingspan - 7'4.25"
Standing Reach - 9'3.5"
Hand Width - 11.0"
Weight - 225 lbs
