Drummond is getting his numbers, but when he does, half the team don't get theirs. It could just be a temporary situation, but, if not, I doubt we offer him a whole lot.
As a Pistons fan we witnessed this same phenomenon during his career there. It fooled a lot of fans for a long time who just looked at his stats in a vacuum; but nearly everyone came to the same conclusion. The Cavs fans reported the same.
Neither of us had nearly the star power / leadership that you guys have though. So here's hoping things end up different for you.
Hmm. Thanks for the heads up. He does take up a lot of space whenever he gets the ball, to the point where rest of team looks on as bystanders kind of thing. And although he seems the part, he is not good enough to be an offensive focal point.
Good coaching can help him define his role.
If we could get him to accept being a role player who did two things on defense (commit to team defense, and rebound); and two things on offense, (set up screen and rolls for LBJ, and rebound), that’s all we need from him. Would he be okay with that? He seems to be bright enough to get with it.
If he plays that role, the MLE can go to Drummond next season.
