I mean isn’t this arguing semantics.....and yes, they most def have to shop kemba lol
Been thinking that the Magic,(Along with Chicago) is looking like a perfect landing spot for Kemba.
1) Have some capspace
2) have two top 10 picks right now
3) will want to improve
4) Will need to sell lots of tickets to recoup money lost in covid
5) will want to be back pushing for playoffs
6) have a young, potential Kemba type player to learn from Kemba
7) Picks are looking like they will be wings and their team already has lots, so can move some.
Based on some mocks their picks could be an SG and a SF so based on that a deal of HArris and Hampton for Kemba and Romeo works ( I believe they are about 20 million below cap after singing 2 rookies)
Then assuming that Ball is indeed wanting out of New Orleans, then you look to either sign and trade Fournier to Pelicans with Thompson or flip Harris and Thompson to the pelicans for a resigned Ball(at about 18 mill per season) and Adams (trade after May 23rd when Adams is eligible to be dealt)
So Orlando would look like:
Kemba/Anthony/
Fultz/Draft
Ross/Draft/Romeo
Isaac/Okeke
Carter Jr/Bamba
Damn good looking team
Pelicans would look like:
Bledsoe/Lewis
Harris/NAW
Ingram/Iwundu
Zion/Gabriel
Thompson/Hayes
Again, A very good looking team with better balance.
Boston would be
Ball/Pritchard/Hampton
Smart/Fournier/Edwards
Brown/Nesmith
Tatum/Todd (boston pick)/Grant W
Timelord/Adams/Kornet
MLE on a big defensive forward who can play some PF as well.
To me once magic dealt vucevic and sold off Fournier it was a pretty big indicator they’ve finally pivoted away from fighting for an 8 seed anymore. At least for a few season. Think that sealed the end of kemba to magic
I thought that for a long time as well. but with the draft unfolding as it appears I think the door has reopened on that.
They do get Isaac and Fultz back. They still have Ross and Harris. They have Carter Jr.
I dont think that
Athony
Fultz
Ross or HArris
Isaac
Carter Jr
I dont think that team is bad enough to get a good pick or good enough to contend in playoffs. Instead they are looking around the 6-9 seed in the east, on that same treadmill.
I can see them pushing their chips in in an effort to climb to the upper eschelon in the east. Kemba and 2 top 10 picks can do that, imo.
