A coach's job is to put you in the best position to win. Once the game is two possessions then yes you can scrutinize coaching. It may not be that last play but something that happened in the game that ended up being costly.

In a blowout the players clearly aren't ready to play.

And in the middle well one team was just better.

But go ahead and blame RJ if you need to for having to take a shot over three people.

i'm not talking about rj now, i'm talking about the ridiculous idea that losing by 6 points is coaching but losing by 1 more point isn't coaching as if there isn't a responsibility in all outcomes on both coaching and the players.

Prophet of Rage, are you just going to let shammgod have the last word on this?

About 99.9% of what you said

Knicks lost a bunch of close games too. I don't see you bringing up those as sign of bad luck... Their net rating is top 10 in the league. They are performing in line with what they should be expected to do. If anything them being the 6 seed is more bad luck than good luck considering they are performing a whole 2.5 points better than the Heat per 100 possessions and yet the Heat are outperforming their expectations given that and have a higher record than they really should.

So stop with the fuqqing cap to push your BS agenda that has no facts to it other than to just troll and contribute to the chit storm here.

Our road record is bad. Our opponent shooting luck is the most fortunate in the league. We punched a LeBron less Laker's team in the mouth and hurt our hand. Why "should we have won" this game last night? If they had LeBron and Schroeder we lose by 15. If we had Mitch maybe we get 5-6 points back?

We are 0-9 vs. the 76ers, Heat and Brooklyn. I am a Knicks fan but you're kind of kidding yourself if you think this is a "great team". Unless your definition of "great team" is a slightly below .500 team in a weak East that would crawl into the 8th seed in a normal season.

This is a big concern and last night was a big disappointment. We have no shot at any of the teams other than Atlanta. So I fully expect a quick exit.

I agree we don’t have a great team. However, we have some decent pieces that we can build on.

if a team wins by 2 points and everything under 6 points is coaching, then both teams are losing because of coaching until that last guy makes the shot to win it.

he's trying to jump on the frank wagon right before he turned a corner in his career and becomes an all-nba defensive player of the year. 8-) 8-)

Personally, the biggest question from last night's game is not parsing out how we lost, but wondering if Thibs smells the coffee and keeps Frank in the rotation.

The two most impressive players were Randle and Frank. Randle played solid D on AD while going right into him on offense and overall outplaying their best player.

Frank was not perfect on D since he overhelped on more than one occasion which led to maybe a couple of perimeter makes by LA, but the rest of the time he was single-handedly disrupting LA's offensive flow and causing true chaos for them.

I don't believe Frank can be judged if he is thrown in cold for a few minutes in occasional games and then collects 2-3 fouls in rapid succession. Thibs over-reacted when that happened and buried him for it, but he has to know better as a coach that Frank needs his reps like any other player and you can't base your decisions on those occasions.

Bottom Line: Frank is a defensive weapon. We need to utilize him.

Plus, he does fulfill the 3 in 3&D. His corner shot is legit.

You also have to remember that in an alternate universe where injuries and sickness don't happen in a contact sport and if the Knicks played only top 3 teams, and also played all of their games on the road then they would be a below 500 team so this season is pointless and this team isn't great because of that.

Oh and also Elfrid Payton still sucks

I think I covered everything :D

how can you say such a thing  . I was such a fan I was stupid to think the Rose trade wouldn't be good because it would take important time away from IQ.

It put him on the floor, didn't it? We scratched our heads at subbing out Frank for defence. Isn't that coaching? Isn't it coaching why Payton starts?

Coaching is a lot of in-game management, feel for the right personnel, wisely calling timeouts. Sometimes it is having the right play as well. When it gets close yes it is a question of coaching.

We've had late game heroics recently by Burks, IQ, and Bullock on off ball or limited playmaking situations so it isn't always iso Randle to end games. The Lakers were closing out really well last night and we didn't have two of those guys so those options weren't there. There were plays late where the Knicks tried to move the ball and there just wasn't much there. Even with RJ - I'm glad he's getting late game experience now as he hasn't encountered as intense a game in his career yet. NBA players going 100% sprint on defense at him.

I think if we kill Thibs for something, it's that ridiculous timeout with a minute left. That was inexplicable. And we did get bad luck with that travel call

Have we parsed through enough of the minor issues that we can just spend the rest of the thread bashing Elf?
