You're right it just happened once, but you're connecting the award to the ring which isn't the question. Would you rather be 2015 curry or 2014 Leonard?
I'd rather be Kawhi on 2014, but being Curry in 2015 is damn good. Besides, seeing your earlier post about the best player not getting FMVP, there are a number of times the RS MVP went to someone who probably shouldn't have got it, so it's a wash on both ends. Given that, I'll take the ring.
Also, I'm' connecting the ring to the FMVP because in only one instance did the winner of the FMVP not win the ring. Whether you like it or not, winning one almost always means winning the other, and every athlete I have even known from grade school to the pros wants to win that championship.
