Completely empty statements, along with the audio clip posted. Of course we're going to make changes -- we'll draft somebody, we won't re-sign somebody, etc.
It's the type of comment that sounds possibly meaningful in the moment but that if pressed on it down the road Ainge can say "We DID make changes! We drafted <player X> with the 14th pick and we think he can be a difference-maker for this team. And we let Tremont Waters go. So we DID make some changes."
Followed by more excuses and pumping: "I believe in the core of this team, and we never had our key guys healthy and together last season. I'm excited to see what they can do -- remember, this team was in the ECF two years ago!"
And then maybe he closes with the support-for-Brad finish: "We've got a fantastic coach who is still young and continues to get better just like our players. I think the players and coaches learned a lot last year and we're going to surprise a lot of fans and teams who may be counting us out."
Hell, he should just record the audio now and dub in the name of the player they draft later.
Also could add the international player quote: "Austin found [player Y] playing in the Polish Basketball league who is a real pro and we feel can help us right away. Some people have compared him to a much older Luka Doncic and he's going to turn a lot of heads this year."

I don't agree at all dude.
All Danny says is he believes in his team. He is doing the complete opposite here.
Maybe I'm naive, but this doesn't sound like a guy ready to bring this roster back.

He's under major heat from the media right now, especially after last night's pathetic loss. He can't do this call and say he's not making any changes unless he wants to get body-slammed by 98.5 and WEEI all day. So he gives them an empty statement that he can easily claim wasn't a lie down the road and now the narrative changes to rampant speculation on what it could mean. Danny is cagey and knows how to handle the media.

We need to fall al of the way into the lottery and then trade Jb kemba and snart for Beal and westbrook
....or just move jb and smart for beal and then give up a 1st to get out from under kemba's contract .....then we can acquire piece #3 to compliment JT Beal

If we move JB and Smart for Beal (which WAS will never do) and somehow dump Kemba without taking any money back, and renounce all FAs, we get to about $20 mil. under the cap before accounting for draft picks and empty roster spots. That's not getting us anywhere.

So... the core will be back. Probably will let Fournier walk and do some other cap gymnastics to stay under the tax and save Wyc money.

I was just getting ready to post this same idea, just leave off Romeo for us and leave out the pick for NO.
Kemba and Thompson for Adams and Bledsoe. Then maybe move Bledsoe to a 3rd team somehow.
Saves us 10 mil to help pay for Fournier resign. I don't think Bledsoe would be as big a defensive liability as Kemba if we had to keep him.

My predictions:
Resign Fournier
Kick the tires on dealing Smart to GSW or ATL, but do nothing
Deal Kemba to avoid the luxury tax
Start the season with a very thin bench

Listen, as for the role players, every single one of TT, Semi, Langford, Parker, Kornet, Grant, Edwards, Tremont and Tacko should be at least on the block or let go this summer.
I would keep Kornet and Parker, Kornet has been solid for us as a 3rd center. Parker I want to give another chance to.
Everyone else, ehhhhhhhhh

I listened to about half of Danny's interview and couldn't do it anymore. It was nothing but excuse making. He kept going back to "injuries." Gag. Give me a break. Also defended Marcus' crap play, which, didn't bother me too much since what else is would he do?
Boring same ol' same ol'. No accountability, just, "well this that and the other thing."

It’s sounds to me exactly like “we’ll be active” “we’re looking around the league” “we will explore out options” “could be a busy day” that we hear occasionally around the trade deadline- particularly this year. Obviously he can’t say “there will be major roster overhaul” but tbh this imo was just a nothing quote.
Love Danny, I’ll give him benefit of the doubt but there’s been a lot of empty talk around this team the last few years and yet we come into the season with no depth etc. it potentially cost us a chance to get to the finals already and this season completely derailed us.
Less talk more action Danny. Forget the quotables ......get to work, like now or Tatum will be walking out the door.

In a climate where beal wanted out I think they’d most def be interested in brown. That said I’ve completely reversed course on my thinking beal would be available this summer. Think we can cross that one off for now.

How do people feel about Kemba for Siakam? I know Siakam is a choke artist but he’d be a #3 option and might dramatically improve our defense if he cares enough. Problem is he has a lot of years left on that contract and we might need to throw them a pick

Looks like this summer will not have stars available unless Kawhi seriously consider not signing with the Clippers.

I think Danny will do the following:
1) trade Kemba to get out of his 22/23 contract
2) resign Fournier
3) let go of all 3rd stringers
Smart/Prichard
Fournier/Nesmith
Brown/ Langford
Tatum/
R.Williams/
This 8 imo are safe bet to return...all the others should be gone.

Re: Trade Thread 2021-22: To Trade Or Trade Not
This is a GM that traded IT when we was a fan favorite. He's not afraid to make changes. Everyone is aware we underachieved this year so lets see what he does.
What can he say about his guys and not tank their value? Saying changes will be made is about as obvious yet strategic as he can be. I'm all for bashing Ainge, but his comments are okay considering there's much more to it than we know...he cant come out and say we dumping this guy and targeting that guy.
This is the same crowd that was screaming for Barnes two months ago as an example....would Barnes be moving the needle THAT much right now? we can probably get him this off season without coughing up a pick.
Just saying I think Danny can only say what he can. If you're expecting some breaking news, you havent been paying attention for the last 10 years.

I feel like Masai laughs at us honestly.
