He's calling teams by the wrong names, breathing real heavy, lots of lip smacking. Change that guy's diapers and let him retire!

Hes been like that for several years now. I'm going to guess Marv wants to keep Commentating while his bosses are looking for ways to send him off to retirement gracefully.

W/e u think of him his passion for the game is obvious & the number of years he’s been at it speaks for itself.

Have you ever loved something so much, been so passionate about something, you couldn’t put it down?

Maybe you have, maybe you haven’t...

But he’s basically a legend in the world of NBA commentary & they surely won’t unceremoniously kick him out the door.

Allow the realism & human-ness (the sweet & the bitter) of the situation to happen...these guys are human...& there’s a sadness to that in knowing that everything comes to end...give him (& others) the dignity to be human...or, don’t...but then don’t go crying when they leave you in your stained diapers.

Funniest thing is it’s ppl like you (in my experience) who ironically, are the first to cry.

Are they calling the game remotely? Will that continue into the playoffs?

Somebody needs to at least give Marv some water mixed with honey during the games. Man sounds parched all the time.

I had to turn the game off because of the moist, lip-smacking and gobs of phlegm rolling around his throat. That's an audio problem by the way, he's clearly not speaking into the correct sort of mic for the purpose.

This. A simple sensitivity adjustment and maybe moving the mic a bit farther away from his mouth would have helped a lot. But I can't ignore the fact that he also sounded sick. He had a very congested sounding voice tonight.

The noises he makes are disgusting, they need to stop putting him on games.

Isn't there, like, an audio technician or something who tweaks levels for the broadcast? Surely there's someone on the other end of the mic making sure things sound fine, whose job it is to clean up the broadcast audio. I mean, there's a reason we don't hear Marv fart, and if you've ever been around older folks before for a significant amount of time (I worked at an old age home before) they fart loudly and a lot.

With that said, while I appreciate Marv's status as a broadcast legend with some highly memorable calls, it is definitely way past his retirement time. There's no shame to retiring, so I'm not really sure why it is undignified to suggest someone retire.

I know that when I can't keep doing what I love to do at a high level, I'd probably prefer to stop doing it than do it poorly. Part of passion is the part of pride that's distinct from ego.

I think he sounded fine. I would take him all day over the Hornets announcer who doesn't know how to call games for instance

Wait until he calls the game winning homerun in the superbowl, by a player fresh out of the penalty box, for a final score of 6 sets to 3.

LOL so true. Editing audio is a part of my job and you're absolutely right. There is generally an audio/general production manager/crew that would check levels for peaking etc etc. Seems like they took the night off on ol' Marv.

I'm old enough to remember a time when he and a young Mike Harlan were legitimately the best in the business, not just a legend hanging on.

You can't expect Marv of all people to quit before a playoffs finally involving the Knicks though.

Marv sucks sorry. Never liked the guy. Never thought he was ever entertaining any time I had to listen to him call a game I was watching. He doesn't have any bits of interesting info, doesn't know how to banter w his colleagues, doesn't have any good reflections like other broadcasters do (vin scully) , nothing clever to say or know how to poke fun at himself and just makes the air awkward w Chris Webber. Also he isn't a wholesome dude either. Not sure if any of you are old enough to know about his scandal.

Also, I saw him on tv today the guy's face looks pale and frozen.
