Braves are still in a really good place in most respects. AA was left with a good situation, and hasn't done anything to significantly screw it up. Lots of young talent, and Acuna is locked up at a below-market price for nine more years.

That said, they may start to regret the Ozuna contract soon, and they have a huge decision to make with Freeman.

All you had to do was ban Ratul. Lesson learned.

I think we're 15-11 since. The BABIP gods thirst for blood, and as I can't remember the password for Farrell4Eva, something had to be done.

it's been some time since an early season sacrifice appeased the gods enough to not have to prepare a next slaughter. the insufferabililty of ratul seems to have been well worth it.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

They seem to have a knack for sure. They’ve found a lot of struggling SP’s who could throw hard and just told them that you’re now a RP.

Should have kept Liriano as the lefty. Heck, Liriano could probably have even spot started.

Career .194 batting average and .552 OPS. He hits like a pitcher, but this is his 17th season in the bigs and he's amassed over 3000 plate appearances. BBRef has his career WAR at 0.3. It's a miracle this guy has lasted as long as he has in the league. The Jays alone have six catchers in double A or above that are almost definitely better hitters at the big league level than Mathis.

JMHO, driving alone in a car with my mask on right now! LOL

70% is the goal by July 4th, I believe. It's something 50% at the moment, with (some) of the Southern states lagging.

I’ll trust you… I’m in SK and it’s 72% of adults over 40 (61% over 30 I think?). And from what I’ve read the US is ahead of us overall. I suppose it depends on what your age cut-off is, and if you consider 7-year-olds at risk.

Eventually, the impetus needs to shift to the non-vaccinated instead of the vaccinated to protect themselves. Again, jmho

7-year-olds are not remotely at risk.

He was initially a very highly regarded prospect, so that likely bought him time to complete the 1st half of his career, but Mathis must be the best locker room guy of all time because it wouldn’t be tough to find a defensive minded Cather who can hit better than that.

He does have a reputation of saving a lot of runs against at catcher, and I suppose you could argue that the advanced metrics don't yet measure this well. But it would have to be heck of a lot of runs saved to make up for such offensive ineptitude.

I wonder what AA was thinking bringing Mathis on board. Every game he starts they basically have 7 MLB hitters in a 9 man lineup.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."
