Mind, you Baffert deserves to be penalized for serving as a supplier, but the horse is not blameless imo. If you're going to do the crime, you ought to do the time.
Accountability for horses is an overlooked electoral issue also imho. They killed Superman ffs. No horse prison, horse civil suits all thrown out of horse court without so much as a horse trial. No horse sense to it.
THIS. All this.
Instead, he (the horse) is allowed to go to stud. Look, I'm not going to be explicit here and run afoul of the greatest moderation staff in all the land, but there's no way he (the horse) should be allowed a constant buffet of high-quality oats and the companionship (conspirators in sex acts) of the most delectable fillies available.
Personal (equine) accountability, maybe you've heard it? The ghost of Baraboo weeps tonight.

Airlines are definitely adding flights and have some good prices. I have a Vegas flight booked for later this summer and Southwest has added non stop flights out of MKE and at a lower price than I had booked a few weeks ago. I saved $140 round trip,. $299 round trip. I had paid $439 a few weeks ago.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Every few months I'm reminded that martinis are delicious, and I wonder why I don't keep gin and vermouth around more often. A couple ounces of gin, an olive, and a wave of a capped bottle of vermouth over the glass was my grandpa's drink, and he was cool as hell. I need to become a better martini man.

My dad was a martini drinker. It always pissed him off that so many drinks were called "martinis" that weren't gin and vermouth. "What the hell is a caramel apple martini?".

I love a gin martini, but tend to only drink them if I'm out. So it's been a while. At home I tend toward G+T or a gimlet when drinking gin (which is my hard alcohol go-to, but more often drink wine).
PS Olive needs to be stuffed with blue cheese or feta.

Years ago when we would trade off drivers for volleyball league, I'd drink tonic, lime, and a couple dashes of bitters when I was behind the wheel. Turns out it's actually super delicious when you added the gin. G&T, lime, with four or five shakes of bitters has been my drink when out for a long time now.
Gimlets are great but I haven't had one since my mid-20s. I just remember them getting me incredibly hammered.

Reminds me of the Hawkeye Pierce martini recipe:
You pour six jiggers of gin into a glass and then you drink it while staring at a picture of Lorenzo Schwartz, the inventor of vermouth.

Haven’t been able to make a good martini at home. Have to use like triple the olive juice to make it drinkable.
Last time I drank gimlets I blacked out playing Call of Duty.

So I've explored some bitters this year (thanks to covid and some zoom drink mixing classes) and I never knew the huge variety of flavors that different bitters can employ.

Real proud moment when I had a raging hangover after a bourbon session accompanying the pressing of dress shirts.

The only bitters I've used is the standard flavor in old fashioneds.

I have a couple bottles from bittercube and a few from Woodford Reserve.
Rootbeer, Chipotle Cacao, Chocolate, Orange, Cherry and the normal 'ole aromatic ones. Can really add flavor to different cocktails (the white Russian with the Chipotle is a favorite)

Re: OT: General OT Thread [NO POLITICS OR RELIGION]
What are you guys doing with your gimlets?
Is it that you're drinking them like juice, since that's basically what it tastes like? Gotta sip.

So the only gimlets I drank were at this dive of a bar next to my place and I have no idea if it was an accurate gimlet, but they'd fill a cocktail glass with gin and ice, add an olive, and top with a thin layer of Rose's lime.
ETA: Yea, that's a **** up gimlet.

I like using orange bitters with my bourbon old fashioneds. I play around with my simple syrup too, sometimes I’ll make it with brown sugar. Not sure if I can taste much of a difference, but I feel fancier

I make honey syrup, and regularly mix Gold Rushes come summer (I call them bourbon margaritas).
Can't wait!
