You're right, 7 straight years of making the playoffs, 5 straight 50+ wins, 2 ECF appearances, 1 NBA championship is pretty weak compared to what Presti has done in recent years.
The last two years there isn't a GM who has done a better job given his circumstances than Presti. Right now there isn't even a guarantee that Masai stays.
Presti was forced to have a firesale and accumulate assets when PG13 wanted to team up with Kawhi, it made no sense in keeping Westbrook when PG wanted to leave. It made perfect sense for OKC to rebuild, it really is two different situations. But I get it, Masai is a bad GM with a ton of mistakes and he should leave anyway, that would be a great day for you wouldn't it?
Once upon a time 47 wins and a 2nd round exit was what we could refer to as the pinnacle of success...Yet here we are 2 years removed from a championship and a multitude of 50+ win seasons.
Raptors could've gone the way of the clippers, grizzlies, pacers, the harden rockets or even Presti's precious Thunder. We were fortunate enough to accomplish more than any of those teams in the passed decade.
We have some good young pieces in Trent, OG, and Flynn to go along with Siakam and Fred who are very good basketball players. We mined out guys like Harris in the 2nd round and an undrafted Gillespie who look like they will be contributing role players in the NBA. On top of that, we have what will be a top 10 lotto pick + 2 SRP's and cash to spend. That's a lot of value for an organization that is great at finding and developing talent.
Comparing this to Presti's war chest is really apples and oranges. He had to trade George and the Clippers were so willing to sell the farm as they were getting Kawhi and aiming for a a title run as a contender. Presti played the situation perfectly, but again, different circumstance.
I'd say overall we're in a good spot. Could it be better? I'm sure every team could say that about themselves. It just stiggs to not make the playoffs since we've become accustomed to being a top team in the League.
