If you can’t get Bouknight then you go for Tre Mann or Ayo Dosunmo in my opinion

very similar for me

best-case scenario for me

1(19) James Bouknight
1(23) Jared Butler
2(32) Brandon Boston

also really like Cam Thomas, Tre Mann, Ziaire Williams, Jaden Springer, Josh Christopher, Moses Moody

I didn't like some of what I saw from Thomas & Christopher so I'm iffy on those two without being able to be there for their interviews. Even in roles where they were supposed to just fire away, it felt they shot too much and disrupted their teams flow more than they should have. Both have the talent to give you buckets off the bench, but I'm not sure either one will learn to do so in a team concept well enough to help the teams that will draft them and see both of as likely to bounce around a bit before "it clicks".

I like Christopher more of the two, as he at least has good defensive tools to go with the shot-creation potential, but I'm a lot more hesitant about betting on him than I am other "big gambles" like Ziaire & Bouknight.

Springer's a tricky one for me, cause he gave me a lot of mini-RJ vibes for the Vols...in both the good & the bad ways...so I'm not sure high on him I should be. I do still like him and can see him growing into a Burks-style contributor, only with a better two-way game, if he reaches his best-outcome as a shooter.

But I'm just not sure yet where exactly I have him in that mix behind Ziaire, Bouknight, Moody & Butler; who are still my favorites for our picks...at least now that Keon is well outside of our range.

yeah I have those concerns w/ Thomas and Christopher too, but I'm willing to bet on them w/ this coaching staff hopefully being able to get them to play more team-oriented ball. both have the 3 level scoring potential we need

+ both were 5 star recruits and w/ this being such a tough year due to covid, I'm willing to cut freshman more slack

Springer is definitely a tricky evaluation b/c he's not a true PG, he's a combo that isn't really a big time shot creator. he's does a good job putting pressure on the rim, and he shot reasonably well (tho not big volume)

would love to get Bouknight but that's gonna be tough. not sure he falls to 19/20 ( we get the higher of the 2) despite some analysts dropping him on their boards

curious to hear your opinion on this: would you trade Obi or the 2023 Mavs pick to move up for Bouknight?

same. idk if they'd do it (CAA/Rose's son, etc) but IMO it's worth it since Randle is our PF, leaving Obi w/ scrap minutes

I keep thinking of the Jazz being aggressive going after Donovan Mitchell and hope this FO is the same

I think that he & Bouknight are the only two kids with realistic star potential that might possibly get to our range & I feel confident in becoming impact starters at some point...so I'd really like to see one of them as our 1st pick. If not, I think I'm turning to the role players I like the most before using that Pistons' SRP to take a flyer on BJ Boston.

With 3 top 35 picks, I really hope we can come away with two kids that we feel really good about growing into quality depth on the cheap and one big swing on someone that can grow into an impact starter in time...or the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade in a year or two...

for some reason I keep thinking the Thunder are gonna be the team to take Ziaire (they pick #18). they seem to like drafting high-upside players (like Pokusevski, Bazley)

I just want to hit big time on a pick. we need it IMO. don't love the upcoming FA class, and trading for a star doesn't seem possible w/ our picks being so low (and I'm not trading RJ), other teams can outbid us on the trade market

Hopefully Ziaire isn't a sexy enough gamble for the Thunder and there's someone more off-the-radar they can get excited by...because you're right, they are the team I'm most worried about snatching my dream out from under us...them or the hawks if they win the cointoss :banghead:

keep the picks and swing for the fences. not gonna get much for them in a trade. last year the Nets traded pick #19 for Landry Shamet....I'd rather test my luck in the draft

I'd also consider moving up, using maybe Obi (just doesn't fit w/ Randle being here) or the 2023 Dallas pick

the players I want most are probably Bouknight and Thomas

would also take a shot on players like Boston and Williams. who knows how much of an impact covid had on incoming college freshman. willing to cut them some slack b/c it couldn't have been easy/probs lost a bunch of practice time

Last years draft was considered very weak whereas this years draft is very strong. There are also teams like Houston and Orlando with multiple reasonably high 1st rounders.

Would take a major move up to trade Obi. I really like him and we have him on a cheap contract. Not saying I absolutely wouldnt trade him, but it would have to be for a major move up, not a few slots.

last years draft was considered weak at the top, but deep overall in the mid picks (20-40), and even that has been proven wrong w/ Ball and Edwards looking good

I'm thinking Obi + the Mavs pick (#23) to the 10-14 range. I just don't see how Obi's role grows next year w/ Randle at PF and Thibs liking rim-protection at C

The hallmark of a good team is a strong bench. Players get injured (and we need to play Randle less minutes). I really like Obi and think he will only improve. Would I trade him for someone we really wanted that we projected as a starter? Sure, but I wouldnt just throw him into a trade. Right now he's behind Randle, where he should be, learning and providing a spark off the bench. If we trade him we need to bring in someone else to do that. Now if we draft another big that takes his spot, or sign someone who does it better, sure, maybe we trade him for a position of need, but I feel this draft is wide open after 8 or so, I wouldn't be looking to move Obi.

Will be a drawing to decide if we pick 19 or 20 and another one to decide if we pick 21, 22 or 23?

19th & 21st would be the best case.
We need to package them to either move up or trade for a young budding player.

Does outcomes of playoff series influence the selection order or is it just the coin?

I would only trade up if a great player drops to the teens (the same way Haliburton dropped last year) or if we package all picks (plus others assets) for a star vet.

I am not comfortable trading both picks to move up half a dozen picks to draft an Isiah Jackson.

Agree with this, but lets not forget the Detroit pick will have value too. Maybe we can package our later pick and the Detroit pick to move up 5 spots if someone we love falls. That gives us 21st rounders still and one very late 2nd rounder... But also content staying put. Good players will definitely drop
