Your 1-6 in the draft

Post#1 » by Snakebites » Mon May 17, 2021 3:43 am

Alright, now that we know our pick range (no worse than 6), what’s your board look like?

Let’s assume for the sake of discussion we keep the pick where it lands, though this isn’t a given especially if we end up 4-6.

Yes I know we already have a draft prospect thread, but we can be a touch more laser-focused in the discussion now.

1) Cade
2) Green
3) Mobley
4) Suggs
5) Kuminga, with a side of sadness
6) Trade down for assets, this is a hella bad draft to pick 6th

I really don’t even know who I’d pick 6th. There’s a lot of guys I’d be happy to pick 12th or 15th, though. There’s a salary and expectations difference there.

i haven't looked at enough of the 2nd tier prospects but right now my 1-4 for us would be:

1. Cade Cunningham
2. Jalen Green
3. Jalen Suggs
4. Evan Mobley

if we do end up with the 5th or 6th pick there are still a lot of intriguing guys, they just have more flaws/question marks.

1. Cade
2. Mobley
3. Suggs
4. Green

Cade is the beast, everyone knows it. Mobley fits our team the most along with Cade. Suggs, we already have Killian and Bey as guards. Green same thing. Based on talent?

4. Mobley

1 - Cade
2 - Green
3 - Suggs
4 - Mobley
5 - Kuminga
6 - Barnes

6 the only spot likely to change as I haven't done much research on anyone outside the top 5

I’d probably defer to James Edwards III’s “Top 6 Big Board” for the Pistons, which looks like:

1. Cade
2. Mobley
3. Green
4. Suggs

5. Bouknight
6. Kuminga

He mentions that the Pistons are looking for a guy (or guys) who are “bucket getters.” He’s been mentioning Bouknight more on his podcast recently, which leads me to think that he might have sources pointing to that possibility.

1.Cade
2.Mobley
3.Suggs
4.Green
5.Kuminga
6.Keon Johnson

Copying Giovony cant go wrong with that haha.

Seem like the top 5 have been pretty set in stone for awhile. Kuminga is always 5 everywhere I look.

Obv you want to be one for the 6'8 7ft wing span lead ball handler who's also one of if not the best outside shooter in the class. That said being top four is going to make me happy enough which were 52% to be.

I'm in love with Giddey, but at 5 or 6 it would be a huge reach.

Giddey will be great great value if ends up going outside the top 10, though I think he will be better suited on a contending team

I really don't know who I'd pick beyond the top 4. Even at #5 part of me is iffy on Kuminga, but part of that is because he seems for far behind the top 4 skill wise.

That said, this past draft Weaver was reportedly enamored with Patrick Williams, as was Chicago. He wasn't projected top 4 at any time really. I've really liked what I've seen from him in Chicago he has very much been Bey like in a lot of ways, just with a bit less opportunity to get up shots. I would not be surprised at all if Williams does end up one of the top 5 players in last years draft from what I've seen he is very solid with an NBA body.

Will anyone not currently projected in the top 4 be able to crack in this year? That's certainly hard to imagine at this point but stranger things have certainly happened in the draft.

Cade -> Green -> Mobley -> Suggs for me in the top 4 but Mobley has been growing on me the more highlights I've watched I could see a reason to go after him at #2 if we're in that spot.

I wouldn't be shocked if one of the top 5 guys falls outside of the top 5. I feel like it happens every year, as the draft draws near a couple guys rise up the boards out of nowhere. It could very well be Weaver who breaks the mold...This forum would go nuts lol

Normally I'd agree but this top 4 is pretty much a consensus relative to there being a defined gap between any one of Suggs, Mobley or Green and Kuminga.

And yes, if Weaver had a top 4 guy available and didn't take him this forum SHOULD go nuts. The only question asked within the top 4 is who is a better player or better fit amongst those four guys. No one is asking if anyone outside the top 4 should be taken instead.

1) Cade
2) Suggs
3) Green
4) Mobley
5) Kuminga (Tempted to swap Kuminga and Mobley but chickened out because the bust potential on Kuminga is real. Mobley has a much higher floor. I just think at Kuminga's top end potential that he has a chance to be a lead guy who can dominate both ends of the floor, he has that Leonard frame and skillset.)

6) I really have no idea. I've wavered on this a million times between Keon Johnson, Moody, Jalen Johnson early in the year, Kai Jones, Springer, Bouknight. I was looking for one of these guys to separate and rise to the top and none were all that impressive late in the season and in the tournament. Small sample sizes and all but I was hoping for more from a lot of these guys. Moody in particular really looked awful in the tournament, way too passive.

If they fall this far, I just hope they take somebody with the most upside even if they aren't as good as the others now. Jones and Jalen Johnson are the high ceiling guys of this group IMO, don't know enough about the international prospects. Stay away from Wagner, Kispert, Mitchell and Barnes because I see them as high floor, modest ceiling players.
