Well I am legitimately tearing up at Tim Duncan talking to his family and Gregg Popovich.

I could be wrong, but I expect the Knicks are going to have the same problem in the playoffs that the Bulls had when Thibs was coaching.
Thibs gets his teams to play 110% for most regular season games, but the problem is that they can't turn it up a notch in the playoffs, because they've been going full-notch all season.
Tomorrow's home game against the Celtics will probably decide their playoff fate. If they win (against a C's team that literally has nothing to play for), they wrap up the #4 seed. ATL gets HOU tomorrow, and a win gives them the #5 seed - that's the best the Knicks can hope for, they are 3-0 vs ATL this season, and the Hawks' 3 leading scorers (Trae, Collins and Bogdanovic) have a combined zero games of playoff experience.
But MIA gets DET tomorrow, once would assume a certain win. If the Hawks lose and MIA wins, the Knicks get MIA in the first round, and they are 0-3 vs the Heat this season.
If the Knicks lose and the Hawks and Heat win, the Knicks fall to the 6 seed and have to face the Bucks in the first round.
At the very least, the final day of the regular season is going to have several games that will directly affect the playoff seeding.

Great speeches by him, and Vanessa. Definitely got me when Big Fun started talking to his kids. Will have to watch KG’s speech at some point.
What a class with those three. Start them at the 2-4, and you’ve gotta like your chances with them against any other 2-4 combo anyone can think of.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
What an epic HOF class for 2020. I've always been a KG guy but those 3 are the ones I grew up watching while I was just starting to learn/love basketball. Even the other inductees like Rudy T., Tamika Catchings and EJ are awesome!
It's crazy that between the 3 of them they only have 4 MVPs and 1 DPOY award. 11 titles is great, of course.
Also, I wish more superstars stayed on one team their whole careers like Timmy and Kobe (and KG too probably, if the Wolves wasn't a terrible franchise) because it adds a lot more to being a fan.

Enjoyed KG’s speech too. Short, sweet, and to the point. Thought he was most choked up addressing the other inductees - a pretty amazing, genuine tribute, and show of respect to Timmy and Kobe. I noticed he didn’t mention Spree, and Ray. Wasn’t surprised with Ray, but never recall any drama w/Spree. A Youtube commenter pointes out he didn’t mention Rondo either...nor Perk I realize as I’m typing, so probably nbd w/Rondo.

I'm quite happy for Tony, I was always a fan when he was a Bull.
And while those numbers are impressive, they don't count.
According to the Statistical Minimums to Qualify For NBA League Leaders:
You have to make 82 3's (well, 72 this season) to qualify. Tony only made 62.
You have to make 125 FT (not doing the math for this shortened season because it's irrelevant) to qualify. Tony only shot 11 FT all year.
I'd absolutely love to have him back at the vet minimum for his length, defense and shooting, don't get me wrong. I just wish his "record-breaking" season actually meant anything.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Well now that we’re nearing playoffs... i’m reminded that the play-in is indeed exciting, and a nice spin on an otherwise (usually) boring 1st round. Should be interesting watching the Lakers’ track.
Bummer the Bulls missed it, along with worsening their draft odds, but that situation is what it is. They need to be better next year.

I really hope tanking their way to the 4 seed goes wrong for the Clippers. Just can’t stand that team. Plus I really wanted Jokic vs Doncic in round 1.
Excited for the playoffs though! Who are we rooting for, Bulls board?

I’ve hung out with Spreewell. To be honest it was a decade ago and it was quite embarrassing. His post NBA life was even more dramatic in a bad way than his NBA career was. Just with what happened on his boat the “Milwaukee’s Best” would likely want you to separate rom him. Now he was fine to be with when we were out with him but I understand from an NBA standpoint why you wouldn’t want the association.

I agree and I leave always loved the Clippers as an underdog story. I expected so much more of this squad they put together.

Not that they would have a chance, but I'm rooting for D-Rose, Taj and Thibs. And anybody who plays against the Lakers.

Re: The Around The NBA Thread
Rooting for the Knicks bigtime in the East. Rooting against the Nets in the strongest way I can every minute they are on court.
Out West, I continue to root for Portland and Denver, as I have the past couple years. Dame and Jokic are my 1/2 for favorite NBA players. Rooting strongly for any team playing against the LeBrons, and only just less rooting for any team playing the Clippers. Utah is just a well-made team and I will always root for Gobert.
Imagine if Golden State knocks out LeBron

Yeah, I'd love to see Curry go off for 50 and the Warriors knock out Lebron. Although I'm sure that would just lead him to recruit whoever the best FA on the market is to go join him and AD.

I'd like to see Philly come out of the East. They have the size to compete with Lebron/AD, etc.

I think that's spot on, but it still makes the Knicks a tough out regardless. I don't think they can go far but they are going to give the Hawks a handful in the first round even though the Hawks have more talent. They will grind team like Atlanta down plus the Hawks have no playoff experience either.

I'm sticking to the classic "Anyone but the Lakers/ **** LeBron"
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

I think the Knicks will be fine. Having Randle and Barrett will help them and Rose is experienced in the playoffs and in playoff Thibs.

I don't care if Derrick and Taj is on the team, I will never ever root for the Knicks at any point in my life. I just can't.
I'm with you in rooting for the Blazers though, they are just a likeable team and they finally seem to have health on their side and I hope they make a splash. Odds are they likely won't make it all the way to the Finals, but they are the team I'll be rooting for the playoffs.
Why so serious?
