A better question would be: which teams would be interested in an Oubre sign & trade?

Re: What players should the Warriors go after next season
There are some really interesting combinations that could be worked out with Indiana. I envision two separate but contingent deals. The first being Wiggins and Wiseman for Brogdon and either Sabonis or Myles Turner. The second being a sign and trade involving Oubre for either T.J. Warren or LeVert. Indiana would want picks to balance things out. If Minny's pick ends up being #6 or #7, we could couple that pick with our own late teens pick this year or our pick next year (but not both).

Why are so many of you eager to get rid of Wiggins? Who are we replacing him with?

Exactly what I can't figure out. I picture Wiggins being a fixture here for several years.

Agreed. The way Wiggins has performed this year has been impressive given the circumstances.xdrta+ wrote:killmongrel wrote:Why are so many of you eager to get rid of Wiggins? Who are we replacing him with?

I am in the same camp in regards to Wiggins and feel like many of the proposed trades bring back players would end up being a lateral move at best.

Agreed. That's why if we propose any trades, it should either bring back a player that upgrades from Wiggins or doesn't involve Wiggins unless we have a good strategy to acquire a viable starting SF.

Wiggins Stans shouldn't be overly butt hurt about trade proposals involving him. The reason Wiggins is part of every trade proposal has to do with the team's salary structure. If you're trying to acquire a star or near star player from another team, then presumably that player will carry a fairly large salary. For dollar matching purposes, the only players the Warriors could trade in return would be Curry, Klay, Draymond and Wiggins. Curry, Klay and Draymond aren't going anywhere. That leaves Wiggins at approximately $31 million. After that, the next highest salary we've got is Wiseman at approximately $9 million.

Stans....butt hurt....an odd way to talk about opinions. Actually, others do know about matching salaries. What's strange is that people who are sure that Wiggins is a negative asset think the Warriors could just combine this negative asset with some scrubs or mediocre draft picks and bring back a star player. Sounds like wishful thinking to me.

I don’t see a trade for a starter being possible unless someone is high on Wiseman AND we can work a S+T of Oubre in a 3 team deal.
I would target McConnel with the MLE.
Try to trade Paschall and Smailagic (waived/non guaranteed) for Okogie.

He wants to package Minny's and our #15-17 pick with Wiggins and Wiseman to get the likes of LeVert back?

I'm not a Wiggins stan. Just realize that if you're going to trade him, you better have a plan to replace him with a viable starter.Old_Blue wrote:Wiggins Stans shouldn't be overly butt hurt about trade proposals involving him. Wiggins Stan? I am open to trading Wiggins to make the team better but the players being mentioned don't move the needle for me. If a star wants to be traded to the Warriors that is a game changer I would trade Wiggins, Wiseman, Minny pick and Warriors FRP + to get the deal done but I don't see that player being available at the moment.

Re: What players should the Warriors go after next season
The Warriors are not going to trade their future to win now. They want to win now AND win ongoing. It's not going to be easy, but to do it they are going to have to draft well and spend the time to develop the picks into NBA players.
It's one of the reasons I hope the NBA increases the rosters like they were talking about.

I agree. At this point I think they want to keep Wiggins for Wiggins. They won't dump him just for the money if it downgrades the team.

The only way we dramatically improve this roster next year without trading Wiggins and with Oubre likely signing somewhere else is if we get the Minny pick at #4 and are able to draft Jalen Green or Jalen Suggs and with #17 we land Moses Moody or Josh Giddy.

Two Rookies are not going to ‘dramatically’ improve a playoff team.

Two rookies, two quality vets, and Klay hopefully being 85-90% of who he was would.

Turning Oubre into a quality vet big is the biggest, and probably hardest task of this offseason.

I don't understand the pining for KAT. He's been the common denominator on one of the worst teams in recent history.
