The broader issue is our players are dropping like flies. Whether its poor diet, over-training or under-training, lack of stretching, etc, the high performance department ought to be doing a thorough review. This amount of injuries in a month and a half is alarming.

We're on the extreme end, but DL trips across baseball are up. The Dodgers currently have 13 players on the DL, including Corey Seager, Cody Bellinger, AJ Pollock, Dustin May, David Price, Brusdar Graterol and Corey Knebel. The Padres have five pitchers out for the year on the 60-day with elbow problems, and another four pitchers on the 10-day (plus half of their starting lineup has COVID).

Pitchers have always broken, but they're breaking with alarming frequency at the moment.

The Mets are right up there as well with 12 on the IL.

Dolis is back tomorrow, supposedly, and Hatch is going to BUF shortly to begin a rehab. one problem of all the injuries is that it seems to result in the need to shift players to the 60-day IL to create temporary space on the 40 man roster. The Jays did that with Phelps to open up space for Nick Allgeyer who they have now returned to Buffalo without so much as an inning pitch. Now Allgeyer is a good enough prospect that they might have had to protect him from the next Rule 5 draft, and he still might be called up for emergency duty, but there aren't really many stiffs on the 40 man roster whom the Jays can DFA. If one assumes Manoah may get a call before long, and that Phelps, Merryweather, Murphy and Hatch will come off the 60-day IL at some point, there aren't a lot of complete stiffs to drop, maybe a couple of fringe relievers like Cole, Payamps and Beasley whom they just added, and Kirk when he returns knocks out McGuire, but almost anyone else in the minors on the 40 man roster is someone they would not want to casually DFA - they'd likely lose them on waivers, especially given the rash of injuries around the league. What is really needed this season is an extra couple of spots on the 40 man roster for all teams.

Yeah, let's stop the politics there.

Though I will maintain: **** Napoleon III. Though the whole "putting a random Austrian noble on the throne of the Empire of Mexico" thing was just hilarious.

You have to make the GT, unless you want to be responsible for anything bad that ever happens to this team.

I certainly do not want to be the cause for any of that.

For some reason I am reminded of Kevin Pillar injuring his oblique after sneezing.

Dollis has been activated for tonight. I'd have posted this in the new series thread if it existed. I'd have created the new series thread if I wasn't afraid to be responsible for our success in the series.
