If it was only about that we still wouldn't have gotten Drummond. Remember, we signed Damian Jones to two 10 days contract before we even got Drummond. Gasol was already on his way back by then.
And we still were in every damn C rumor from Aldridge to trading for Turner, but unfortunately got to settle with Drummond because every other thing fell through.

I vividly remember even before covid, people were pouting about Gasol like they're pouting towards Drummond now.
Sure, it was a time we didn't have both of Lebron/AD or just Lebron, maybe he works better with both.
But his play has regressed significantly even from last year, and most guys were calling him washed even then.

That being said, I'd also like to see Gasol on the court with both Lebron/AD to see how that works out for us.

You also remember that Marcs defensive numbers this year were better than Drummond, Dwight, or Javale this year or last year before COVID? You also remember that the starting 5 of Dennis KCP Bron AD Marc led the league in 0rtg and had the best plus minus there was of all teams?

Marc being too inconsistent was a lie. He was averaging 3 shots a night and playing 20 mins a night. I mean by god he’s not getting a double double because he’s not trying to pad his stats and knew what to do to keep Dennis eating and engaged while letting AD operate and giving Bron space to have a mvp type of year and Kuzma to have the most boards of his career because he boxed out guys ... but he’s still a better basketball player than Drummond has ever been. Hell Markeiff is a better player than Drummond too ... he’ll the team also rebounds better with him on the floor than off when it comes to Marc because he’s boxing guys out and not just catching his own misses like Drummond does as the weakest interior finisher.

Drummond and Trez side by side with Marc and Markieff isn’t a contest. Two guys who will fill up box scores vs two guys who play their roles, keep the game plan going, and win you games.

I wish Drummond went to Brooklyn to just f up the lanes and game for their 3

Hence why I said I want to see Gasol on the court with Lebron and AD. It's in the quote.

Nothing I said about him was a lie tho'. He's worse than he's ever been, that's a fact.
We were desperately looking for an upgrade because he's worse than he's ever been, that's another fact.

It just happens we struck out and we got a lesser player than him at his worst. Fit wise at least.

But my issue is this when people say that. Marc has always played his way into shape in his career. There is no one who followed Memphis or Toronto Marc and should have expected him to come to camp in shape with a short off season. He’s got progressively better month to month on the year.

Given Drummond and Harrell's play, there's no excuse to not play Gasol a few minutes here and there. Neither Drummond nor Harrell has been any good. Both are awful on defense. I do agree Gasol wasn't particularly effective before we went out and got Drummond... Gasol offered almost nothing on offense. He was pretty much a spot up shooter; not a very good one at that.
