if mitchell doesn't come back healthy, this might be an upset b/c the grizz won't quit all series.

Reminder that Mitchell averages 35 ppg this year against this team.

Random question. As a Raptors fan, I always wondered if we kept JV instead of trading for Marc Gasol.
Do you think Embiid would've performed better in the '19 playoffs against JV. Or would it be the same?

3 best players out of the game for a long stretch due to injury and foul trouble and shooting 3's more poorly than they have all year. Memphis shouldn't remotely feel like this game is won and this doesn't bode well for them over a series.
The lesson to take is simply Memphis goes hard and isn't going to lay down. You have to beat them. But Utah is going to be fine and I'd still be surprised if this series goes more than 5.
I think the lesson is Utah relies too much on three pointers.
That allowed them to push past otherwise formidable teams that fell for it during the regular season, but that can definitely keep up in a playoff series. Games slow down and the three dries up. Too many people predicted this.
We will see. I'm going to chalk this up to the wrong side of variance. Outside of Clarkson's 0-8 the other guys are simply too proven as shooters to continue to shoot this poorly. And in games where Conley and Gobert can play regular minutes and if Mitchell can get back and be effective, the quality of looks is only going to rise.
I love Memphis. They are fun. But Utah is way better than this offensively.

Clarkson is regular season fool's gold.
Chucker, doesnt play defense, cant pass. Horrible, negative impact player when it matters.

Re: WC | Rd 1| (1) Jazz vs (8) Grizzlies [0-0]
Jazz are frauds. It was clear that they have not been the same team since the all-star break. They were riding on the fact that their team hasn't changed, the Utah altitude home court advantage, and the fact that they were largely unaffected by Covid. Mitchell would probably make a difference here, if he's playoff Donavan, or the one that was playing well right before he went down with the ankle injury.
But hey, atleast you have the DPOY right lol?

I don’t think there is a more confident team in the playoffs than the Grizzles.

This might be the first game this year that we dont get atleast 10 3PTMs. Terrible night.

Letting a young team like the Grizz continue to build confidence is a dangerous game for the Jazz. They fully believe in themselves now and have nothing to lose

why pay gobert 40 mil a year? Yeah solid defense, but i'd rather spend my money else where.

Going 10 deep in the playoffs is unusual but kind of makes sense for us. Then if someone isn't playing well to start a game you don't sub them back in. It is crazy that Clarke is on the bench since he is stuck behind JJJ and Anderson. The FO has mentioned him as one of the core players as recently as the trade deadline this season.
