a less drastic change if someone wants to speed up the game is increasing the foul limit for bonus
just requiring 1 foul more before entering the bonus would make a difference

I'm not too bothered by the free throws at the end of games. I'd rather see a big decrease in time-outs. A sport shouldn't have constant breaks in the first place but increasing the amount of breaks the closer you get to the final stretches is very counterintuitive for viewer retention. 1 time-out every quarter should be more than enough.

Dudley had a stunt the other day that was probably suspension worthy.
Dudley doing the clapping in the play in game, right?
Curious what you think about this Jazz team overall. People seem to consider them paper tigers but that seems a little unfair.

They had a cold shooting night and still came close at the end of the game.

Yep, the clap while he was on court.
Anywho, I still feel pretty good about the Jazz, yesterday was certainly a tough game for them, and they'll need to strike back next game to take some confidence from the Grizz. Team has struggled with offensive consistency with the Mitchell/Conley injuries to close the season. Rudy's foul trouble yesterday was not good (I thought the officiating was pretty slanted, but understand it happens), but don't expect it to be a huge deal going forward. Shooting another area I'd expect to improve, turnovers the larger consistent concern imo. They will need Mitchell to come back in form if they want a shot at the title.
I bought a boat.

Yea, that would be a great change too.
I think that could already save like 10-15 minutes.

Time outs increase add revenue.

I know, that doesn't mean I have to defend them.
Better flowing games increase viewership and sports participation.

Does it?
The most popular sport in America runs One 3-5 second play once every 40 seconds.
You dont need to defend advertising but attempting to make a change for an Advertising Company to reduce advertising isn't going to happen.
I think reducing time-outs or simply giving each team a set number of timeouts in the last 2 or 3 minutes is a good idea.

There's no correlation between the pace of a sport and how popular it is.
Soccer isn't the most popular sport in the world because it doesn't have time outs.

I posted about this a few pages ago, but YouTube TV has been really killer besides the quality (only 720p). Will definitely keep my subscription through the playoffs.

I didn't say it's the only variable. Don't put words in my mouth.

If there's no correlation between whether a game is free flowing or not and its popularity, that pretty much means it's not a variable.
Where is your proof that the NBA would be way more popular, enough to override the amount of money they would get from time out ads if it was more free flowing? Where is the evidence it would even increase viewership at all?

I don't think less breaks would make NBA more popular, but it would definitely make watching games more entertaining for me. I have commercial breaks, they exist at ridiculous quantity in American sports. Watch some Euroleague games in contrast - the game runs far more fluid. I live in Poland and I have to watch games late or straight during nights. One 48 minutes game running over 2 hours is ridiculous.

Man that Middleton game winner was nuts and you hardly see anybody talking about it.
I often wonder if it'd be more frustrating being totally under the media spotlight at all times or to be basically totally ignored as a player. I'm sure either way can dig at you as a man

Congrats to Jordan Clarkson but this is funny, because he wasn't the best 6th man on his own team. Has anything similar ever happened?

Very much a "yay points" award.
The real problem is Clarkson had some big games early on and became the runaway favourite, so people missed the fact that his efficiency has been tanking for months.

Really disappointed with Clarkson winning the award, which really should be renamed to highest scoring bench player, since it doesn't seem to ever go to the most impactful player who comes off the bench.
The fact guys like igoudala, manu, ingles etc continually get shafted despite the advancements we've made in impact metrics is really sad to me.

Pretty much every award is won in the 1st quarter or so of the season except for the MVP.
